Prop Spin Textures in FSX

I'm sure this question has been asked - and answered - numerous times in the past, so forgive me for asking again. What is the fix (if any) for FS9 aircraft ported into FSX when the prop spin circle obscures autogen scenery and textures of the aircraft (see attachment). I've tried different prop spin bmp's from FSX prop aircraft but I still get this. Should I convert all the texture files from bmp to dds?

There is no fix for obscuring autogen and cloud textures. Not sure about the aircraft texture, but maybe it is an alpha channel issue?

Stansdds is correct and I believe the aircraft being obscured is part of it. It's not the prop blur that is causing it, but the way the prop disc was coded in the mdl. FSX reads transparency different than FS9. I know there was some success using MDLMat.exe to manipulate certain areas of the mdl file, but to what extent I'm not sure. Maybe someone else with knowledge of that can add to this.

I'm glad this was asked as being new to FSX, there's a lot of stuff that's "old business" to yall that's totally new to me. I'm still sorting out the whole prop blur mess myself.

This will help with most FSX prop problems but not the mdl problem.

FSX Correcting Prop Issues with FSX & Service Pack 2 - An Illustrated Tutorial. Improper display of aircraft propellers when using FS2004 aircraft in FSX with Service Pack 2 is a well known issue. The "fix" has been documented in several forum posts but it was thought an illustrated tutorial outlining the correction steps would be useful. Compiled in .doc and .pdf formats for your flying enjoyment by David "Opa" Marshall.

Thank You, Terry. Issued 6 years ago and I, for one, was not aware of it. I will try it out.

As always, thank you everybody for your replies to my question. Good tutorial on the prop fix. Apparently what I showed in my attachment pic is a .mdl file issue. I was messing around with Shessi's updated FS9 version of the AlphaSim PBY-5 (currently a WIP) to see how it worked in FSX. Ported over just fine except for the prop glitch and the normal panel.cfg edit that some FS9 planes require... and which I didn't know about until now, LOL. Those of you who still maintain a FS9 install will like what Shessi's doing with the AlphaSim PBY-5. :encouragement:

I find these very helpful

"For FS2004 aircraft when used in FSX. Your choice of 2-blade, 3-blade, or 4-blade propeller textures. Subtle and as transparent as they could be made, these props will make many FS2004 airplanes more FSX friendly. Saved as 32 bit bitmaps, but easily converted via your DXTBMP program to DXT3 or even DDS textures. Tested as 32 bit bitmaps, DXT3 bitmaps, and DDS (32 bit) textures in FSX SP2 and all work fine. Easy installation instructions. Public Domain. Use them in any way that you please, no restrictions. By Tom Tiedman."

I have Flight1's ATR 72-500 for FSX (ported) and one known problem with it is prop textures. I asked about it on Flight1 forum and they answerered that the problem goes with the model. So nothing can be done. However I discovered a semi solution. I lightened the propeller texture's alpha (quite a lot) and now they show up much better.

Probably mentioned above somewhere, but a common workaround is also to find a native FSX prop blur (be it 2, 3 or 4 bladed that you need), save it to the name of the one you're replacing and drop it in the texture folder, overwriting when asked.
