Push forward?

I know about Shift+P to push back, but is there any way to push forward? I am thinking particularly of getting into the hangar on, for example, USS Eisenhower. I can land, position myself, shut down and push back onto the lift to go down, but moving forward off the lift and into the hangar needs to have the engines running, which seems a bit dangerous.

The hangar is empty and your exhausts are pointed seaside. Hence, a little nudge can't hurt.

Or slew mode.

Yes, there is :)
Last year, on request of someone who wanted to move around his jets on an aircraft carrier without using Slew, I made an Aircraft-Towing gauge which does exactly what you want.
I have to check if I uploaded this gauge publically.

What the gauge does:
If you give a specific command when parking brakes are set, brakes are released and you can move the aircraft around (with or without engines running) with elevator/rudder commands.
I.e. simulate an aircraft being towed.

I want one! If you don't have a public link please email me one at the same old place. (Jenny is doing Great!)

Best, Paul

That would make it more interesting. Slew works but anything more than a gentle nudge and you can go to far.

OK, it was still "under the hat".

I need to test it again, and make a little documentation for install.
Probably uploaded within a week.

Cheers, Rob

Tom wants one of these push forward gauges also. What a great addition to both FSX and P3D. Count me in for sure.

Count me in on that one Rob. There wont be any accidental VTOL effects to the gauge will there? :friendly_wink:

As a matter of fact: it DID in the first version..... LoL
Because it is using the same speed-forcing function as I use in my VTOL stuff; meaning that it wasn't compatible with my existing addons.
I never anticipated this speed-forcing function being used in more then one application ...:)

But I found a solution for that ...

Tow/push gauge uploaded

Hi,

I have just uploaded the Tow/Push gauge to the SOH library, as file rcbat-21.zip in the FSX-Other section.

Cheers, Rob

Thanks a million Rob, off to download and put it to use.

Back from download, works perfectly. Much appreciated.

Thanks Rob - that was just what I was after when I started this thread. Here's a pic of a Sea Vixen struck down into the hangar of Javier Fernandez's USS Nimitz. One very minor query: do we need to do anything with the DIZ file?

No, just ignore it.
That's just a descriptive file, needed for FTP uploads to site's like flightsim.com.
