Q. for those who fly my planes...

Piglet

Keep forgetting to ask,
Do my latest planes have visible reflections off the gauges in the VC? I ask cuz I noticed none of my planes in FSX have those reflections. And I was wondering if other users can still see the reflections. I think (maybe) the newest Nividia drivers?
Some unknown FSX setting? Or BAD PIG?
If others can see the reflections, then I can rule out not making the tex's correctly, and look elsewhere for a fix.
Thanks all,
Tim

Tim, I'm running an NVidia 9600GT w/ver 275.33 driver. . . .Win7/64bit. . . .4gigRAM. I see the reflections:

I just tried it at my end and I have the same Nvidia drivers as Falcon but a GTX460 GPU and I am not seeing reflections on the gauge glass.

I tested with 'light bloom' on/off and 'aircraft casts shadows on itself' on/off and saw no difference.

If Falcon is seeing it and I am not then I assume we have some settings different somewhere.

Larry,
Just for reference, here are the settings for my FSX. . . .also, I don't use any additional internal or external programs that would affect FSX:

Ummm,
I'm running a GTX 460 also, with the 270.61 drivers. All my FSX settings are similar to 409's. Maybe somethin' in that Nividia control panel thingy?
P.S. I am running REX2.0.

This is odd! I just matched Falcon's settings and still have no gauge reflections.

Like Tim I am also running Rex 2.0 with Overdrive but that should have no effect on the gauge glass.

I am running Nvidia Inspector with FSX settings and I am now wondering if it's a setting in there that's robbing me of reflections.

I'm also running a GTX 460 and seeing no reflections on the gauge glass. The driver I am running is from 7-9-2010....the one that came on the disc with the vid card.....8.17.12.5896. Really should update the driver at some point....everything runs great so I haven't seen a need to update it.

I am running SP2, pretty much bone stock except for a handful of add-on planes and Pablo Diaz's HDE Clouds and Sky.

OBIO

Out of curiosity, I took a look at other planes in my install (GAS Lockheed L-12, Lionheart Creations Skylark) that I am sure have reflective gauge glass....no reflections on my system...at least not on the gauges. Interior canopy/windscreen glass has reflections, exterior has reflections...but none on the gauge glass.

Oddball of the thread with an ATI HD 4650. I get some reflection not as noticeable as Falcon's, not so much as to be able to see behind you or comb your hair but enough to look like glass. Most apparent on the radio faces as seen in the screen shot.View attachment 45682

good news, the reflection texture shows up and moves around .. bad news ... i cant see through it!

is the texture set to transparent in the material settings? might be worth a check, allthough why others can see through it and i cant i have no idea. Win XP, 9800GT 275.33 drivers, FSX settings pretty much the same as falcons.

I've been trying to think of anything that might cause reflections to show on my setup that others might not have, but looking at what you mention Larry. . . .
I also run REX 2.0 (no overdrive)
I also use NVidia Inspector (using Nick's setup)
I have both GEX and UTX as well as Orbyx FTX Central
I don't run any FPS Limiter software or the addon "Bloom" program that allowed Nightvis capabilities.

I just can't think of anything else that would be affecting my FSX setup any differently than any others.

Hey Piglet, I just wanted to thank you for all the work you put into building fantastic planes. i know that it is a labor of love.
Thanks,
Sid

I do have the reflections !! (just checked with the A-1J)
And that with 9800GT card, latest vid driver, and Nvidia Inspector installed, as well as the nighttime "bloom" effect.
All running on a I7 860 W7.

Hope this will help you guys to sort the issue out.

Cheers,
Hank

Question here for the Nvidea GPU users. Any other driver above the 270.61 I use on my 470,gives a glitch, flicker. Anyone else.

Thanks Piglet for all the work that you do, and providing us with such great aircraft!

I also have a gtx460, but haven't notice if there are reflections on the gauges. I'm running 275.33 drivers with nvidia Inspector. Just a HU, there are a new set of WHQL drivers out 280.26. I've downloaded but haven't installed yet. Off to see if i'm having same problem as some here, will report back with findings.

Joe

edit: Just checked and not seeing any reflections on gauges on any a/c i checked. (piglets A-1H, J2M3, SU P-38 and stock Cessna)
