QC Airfileld attack: Where's the A/C?

Hi all,

I'm using the latest patch CFS3, with the Firepower add-on and a bunch of 1% add-on A/C, plus an NEK.

Not sure when I noticed the difference because it's been awhile since I tried, but how come now whenever ( in 'Quick Combat' ) I attack an enemy airfield, there are no parked A/C anymore? Just trucks, hangars and AA. I used to recall there being lots of parked A/C to to strafe/bomb.

Is there an add-on I have that may have caused this? The actual airfield doesn't seem to matter, the dozen or so I tried ( though I haven't experimented with ALL of them )

Thanks for any input.

It's NEK. If you're flying as an Axis pilot the fields are filled with Allied aircraft, which is perfectly logical. The problem is that the field may be "assigned" to US Navy, US Marines, Royal Navy, the Free French, Russia, China, New Zealand... and if you don't have aircraft for the nation randomly picked there will be nothing there. The same works the other way round.

I see.

So would it be correct to say that in order to have parked enemy A/C on an airfield I intend to attack, I must choose the correct opposing enemy aircraft type? ( whatever that particular airfield is assigned to by the game / NEK )

Basically you need aircraft (at least one bomber and one fighter) from every nationality to make sure there are always aircraft on the fields.

Personally I've solved the problem by making AI only copies of the Ju 88A-4, the Fw 190A-5 and the Bf 109G-6 for every Axis nationality. I seldom fly attacks as a German so the Allies don't matter. The "proper" way of course would be to have Fiats at the Italian bases etc. but I thought it would be stupid to say the least to have, say, Zeros in the middle of Germany. So I made Japanese versions of the three models listed above. As a result the bases are filled with German aircraft but I can still have Japan in the country list and my (rarely flown) Zeros under it. Quite a win-win situation.
