There are some real beauties available for Lionheart's Kodiak. They are for FSX, but can be converted with a little effort to FS9.

Four superb textures by bushpilot that are available in the SOH library and another super photo-real by BananaBob that is available in this FSX thread: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=16747

what do you need to do to get the paints to show correctly?..i tried the conair "fire boss" and i just get the "primer gray" look....

This is how I convert .dds textures (used by FSX) to FS9 dxt3 format using freeware products:

you will need:
1. Irfanview : available at http://www.irfanview.com/
2. DXTBmp : available at http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htm

or in place of DXTBmp :
ConvImX : available at http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/beta.htm
==========================
Ready to convert:
These FSX Kodiak textures are sized at 2048x2048 pixels. Reduce the texture size with Irfanview to 1024x1024 and flip the image:
A. Open the .dds texture with Irfanview, select "Image" then "Resize/Resample". Change the two boxes, Width and Height to 1024. Click "OK".
Select "Image" again, then "Vertical Flip". Then select "File" and "Save As". Save as BMP - Windows Bitmap to the folder of your choice.

B. Open each of your new bmp's with DXTBmp....
note: Before saving each file, be sure the boxes in the MipMaps section, on the far right-hand side, are NOT checked.

Select "File/Save as/Extended Bitmap". In the new box select : "Save as type: DXT3" then click "Save".

Your textures are now in dxt3 format and ready for FS9.
===========================

Placing the new textures into FS9:
1. Open the Kodiak folder installed to FS9.
2. Make a copy of one of the original texture folders and paste. Rename the texture folder to the new texture name.
Example: "Copy of texture.Orange" to "texture.conair"
3. Copy your new bmp's into the folder. Select "Yes" when asked to overwrite.
4. Add the new texture into the aircraft.cfg. Use the next consecutive number in the list of textures.
5. Save

Your ready to go!

Tried your directions and the conversion went smoothly. (I did note that in order for Irfanview to work properly, one needs to download the addon package from their website) Thanks a lot! Now I have some hot new liveries to fly thanks to Bushpilot and Banana Bob.:applause:

A word of thanks

Hi fella's - this is my first time here in the forum and I just wanted to extend my thanks. I realise just how old this particular post is, originating back in 2009 but the v.a. I'm with have just recently introduced some Fedex feeder routes and although tempted to go with the new Carenado 208 I thought I'd have a root around to see if there was a livery available anywhere for my trusty ol' Kodiak and voila !

So, thankyou to Bill for the timeless, beautiful aircraft; thankyou to Bushpilot for such a superb Fedex livery and thankyou too to Dogknot for the advice on converting the FSX textures to FS9 (yep, still running Old Faithful.....!).

Now all I have to do is try and dig out Banabob's replacement prop textures......

Kevin - I tried the link above, in the first post - I have to sign into a site to access the d/l. Is there some place you can find these without having to open ANOTHER account at another site?
Thanks

Hi SSI01

I too had the same problem with the link but I guess because this is an old thread..... Anyway, stay here with SOH and go to 'Add-ons Library' on the Home page, under the title 'Warbirds', select 'search' then under 'search text' enter 'Quest Kodiak' and up will come a list of liveries to download.

Of course if you're using FS9 (like me.....) you'll have to convert the files but that was easier than expected thanks to Dogknot's great advice. Worth the effort as the Quest is such a great 'plane....

hth ;)

Outstanding! Test tomorrow in Anatomy & Physiology, so study time tonight, but as soon as that's over tomorrow I'm hittin' the keyboard!
Thanks!:salute:

Think I did all right, thanks. Found the textures shown above, downloaded them. Started to change to FS9 standards and transfer to the active aircraft file using the directions provided, they are excellent, short and clear and work perfectly. Many thanks again!:salute:
