Question about Attaching Screenshots to a Thread?

I have noticed on some threads that some members have been able to show several Screenshots in one post how do I go about doing this and what is the preferred format and size of the shots?

I would like to post several shots of the modified "military_weapon_v2" site that I have been working on using "Mr. stumpjumper's" V2 Package addon along with other items from both the 'ETO Expansion and MAW' along with a few of my own modified stock items.

Any feedback and directions on how to do this would be most welcomed.

When posting, at the message screen (the one that has "submit reply") scroll down until you see the "Manage Attachments" bar and click it. Everything you need to know is there.:mixedsmi:

...another way is on the post dialogue box there is a paper clip,

click on this and you'll get the upload attachment box and go from there to upload. Once uploaded go back to paperclip and click on the uploaded file to insert it into the post.

This isn't available on the quick reply.

How to Reduce the image file down to upload size?

I just reviewed the Screenshots that I want to be able to attach to my thread post and they are at 2.56mb BMP and SOH only will allow a member to attach 976.6kb Screenshot photos to a post regardless if they are BMP, JPG, or any other type of images. Plus they can only be 1280 in Width and 768 in Height.

I am using 'Howies Quick Screen Capture' program to make take my Screenshots .

Mr BeauBrummie, if I do as you say in your post will this allow me to upload my original Screenshots as they were taken and then saved to my harddrive. Then attach without any modifications to them or not in regards to size, width, and heigth?

Just wondering?

Personally Fraps seems to be better as you can take as much pictures as you wish...

This seems to be the best part of the game. I love taking pictures of CFS3 aircraft. I think I'm hooked on the stuff.

You can even take pictures of this little Miracle in CFS3.

Picture 1 (left) :Walked all the way home without a scratch.

Picture 2 (right): Had me a little Focke Wulf BBQ

Yes Autothrottle, I use FRAPS, I even have the paid for version so it will save in jpeg and give unlimited video recording. Ialso like the way you can check out your fps rating in game without coming up on your screenies.

Dlawrence1950, you really ought to post in jpeg. Large bmp files will not make you popular for those with slow internet connection and Admin don't like them for the space they take up. Check out your capture program to see if can save in jpeg. If it doesn't then you ought to convert in another image programme.

Man Beau, you really could be a Combat Photographer!

Excellent shots! Love the Lifeboat pics.

However, by using Fraps though, how many pics can you upload before the admins say enough is enough?

Pictures

microsoft's office picture manager works
very well. Allows you to modify your picture
to the exact limits of soh. Soh will automatically reduce your pictures but for better quality and size do it yourself. I just use " print screen " button then convert or leave as bitmap. Print screen will put them in your cfs3.o folder in " my documents "

Tried to attach my images to a post and SOH went away

After taking some pics and then reducing them down to the correct size for SOH to accept less than 976kb.

When I went thru the attachment process of the three I wanted to add to my thread. Clicked on upload showing the location of the images waited a couple of minutes and clicked on post thread I completely lost SOH it went to 'this site cannot be found error'.

What did I do wrong? My images were still in the bmp format do I still need to convert and if so what program do I need to get to do so?

Thanks for for all the feedback gentlemen!!! :applause:

soh was down earlier this morning but seems
to be working fine now. Microsoft's office picture manager will convert them to numerous formats........

You still need to convert from bmp to jpeg before uploading. Use Photoshop, Nero or other programs mentioned here to open the pic and then "save as" a jpeg. Upload the jpeg through "Manage Attachments" and SOH will automatically resize it if need be. I often upload pics in 1680X1050 without any issues.

Any excuse to post screenshots:wiggle::

Images converting

A good free program is The Gimp which is a sort of free Photoshop, it is a bit hard to learn how it work but when You master it You will be able to do wonderful things.
Another option is NET.Paint which is free too and is more drawing oriented.
I think that those two programs together can fulfill all your needs about image manipulation

HTH cheers:ernae: and have always good flying

Were my images to big to view in BMP format?

I attached three images in BMP format rather than JPEG format to my new thread 'Revamped Military Weapon V2 Facility' and noticed I had 54 views but no responses to it. Was it because of the image format or because no fellow members were interested in the modified facility?

I would like to upload it to SOH for others to use in their game but only if y'all think it is worth for me to do so.

I found the stock version to be bland and lack luster plus I like to tinker with CFS3 items such as facilities to provide a different aspect to them in hopes of improving on their look by adding some of the new buildings and items from ACC and the Desert Rats.

I'm not up to their level; however I still enjoy taking the time to play around with the stock items and create my own version of them to alter the game to something different.

Just wondering?

Here's one of my Revamped V2 Site in the JPEG format rather than in the BMP Format.

Lawrence,

I know people are looking at your threads, but you have to understand, the CFS3 pilots here are very busy in the sim world and the real world.

I have alot of threads as well, and most of them go unanswered because I came to the realization that Most guys here are very busy with future works and rarely have time to answer each and every solitary thread.

Keep your hopes up, you'll find the answers you are looking for soon enough.
