first off, Hello! I purchased off p3 a few weeks ago and have been having a blast with the game. Also, i have been reading these forums since and have found a good amount of entertainment as well as info from you guys/gals so thank you.
now to my question.. So i have been starting campaigns with all of the default settings an have not been too successful at first. My method is to start a pilot flying for a country and if/when that pilot is killed i move on and try another country. So after dieing as a German, British, and American pilot i have begun my career as an American pilot flying for the froggies
(were they called froggies in WW1?) in the Escadrille Américaine starting at the earliest point in the war i could. I have actually become somewhat succesful in this campaign getting my first 7 kills after about 9 hours of flight time. One of those kills was Oswald Boelcke (like i said i play with the default settings so i see who im hitting when my shots connect) in a Fokker EIII. when i went to the ACE info, it showed him as having 18 kills at the time but didnt say anything about him being dead or wounded or anything.
So to get to the point. If i had actually killed herr boelcke in my campaing does that mean that he will be out for the rest of the war? could i have actually changed history by killing MvR's tuitor before he got a chance to train him? Not knowing if i actually killed him, he could have survived the crash, i figured i would ask here to get the best answer.
btw, i was so giddy when i saw the name of the pilot i was hitting. Historically, i encountered Boelcke right after Immelman had been killed and right before he was put on a leave so that germany did not lose 2 great aces in such close proximity. I imagine it would be very hard to represent a "butterfly" effect in a game like this were by killing boelcke, MvR and a good amount of other pilots never become the masters that boelcke and his rules of combat molded them into.
thanks in advance for making sense of this long winded question:ernae:
