Question about removing liveries

I have done this process hundreds of times prior to coming to MSFS and it was always a simple process:
Delete the unwanted liveries - re-sequence the remaining liveries and you're done.

Apparently that doesn't completely work with MSFS. After removing unwanted liveries and loading MSFS the liveries are gone but the placeholder for that airplane still appears as a selection so apparently there's something else that has to happen in order for that "livery" to be removed completely.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

In the aircraft.cfg file, look for either or both of these entries in each [FLTSIM.xx] section:

isUserSelectable=1
isFlyable=1

and change the =1 to =0 on each line:

isUserSelectable=0
isFlyable=0

That won't work in this case as I physically deleted the livery info from the aircraft.cfg file. The only livery info remaining in the config file is for the liveries I want to keep.

Nope. Did that for all the liveries in question and despite the edits they all still show up in the selection window and are all flyable. While this would have trimmed down the number of viewable liveries it wouldn't achieve the actual end result I was going for which is to eliminate the liveries entirely and gain back disk space (2.5gig just for the T-33). Had it been successful I would move on to other aircraft that have way more liveries than I care to keep and probably gain a significant amount of disk space.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

In that case Priller's suggestion a few posts up should work for you.

Sure, delete the folders (or put them somewhere else for future use), delete the json files and make new ones with the tool mentioned in this thread: https://sim-outhouse.org/sohforums/threads/msfs-2020-tools.120977/

Luckily I'm using the T-33 as a guinea pig, lol
Rather than deleting anything I made a "Misc" folder and cut and pasted the textures and cfg info into that folder. However, when I cut those texture folders the json files disappeared immediately and according to the info in that thread you mentioned the json files are needed in order for the utility to work.
Luckily I have the ability to uninstall then reinstall the airplane and try again. (this will be my 5th attempt at simply removing some liveries) This shouldn't be this hard.

Nono, the json files aren't needed for the utility to work, it generates new ones.

Well, I surrender! All I've accomplished is that now only the VC is visible. The exterior model is not visible. I guess this is what I would call an "Advancement in Flight Simulator Technology". . . .but not entirely. When removing unwanted liveries becomes more than it needs to be.
