Question for Acceleration Carrier Ops Guru's

-SNIP-
will need to look at my Corsair I know I added cat launch
-SNIP-

The Aircraft Factory Corsair can takeoff from the CV's
in FSX without the need for a catapult. I've succesfully
launched from the straight-deck CV-6. It will definately
'sink' but you will regain altitude before hittng the water :)

Yes you can take off from a straight deck carrier I have done it many times off HMS Victorious there was never any question about that but they were I think cat capable.

The slipways are allready greased up for the launch of Victorious so keep your eyes peeled.

Just looked at my Aircraft factory Corsair and I have done nothing with the tailhook as it is in the model and works fine, one of the few that do straight out of the box, I just added cat launch to it.

For the Aircraft Factory Corsair and the Realflight (Vertigo Studios) Hellcat I would like the catapult settings. If you can post the settings from the aircraft.cfg I would much appreciate it.

Cat and hook settings for the RF Hellcat and Cat settings for the AF Corsair, please let me know whether they work for you or not.

a little ballast weight in the tail doesn't hurt either ... :rolleyes:

Stickshaker, try this, copy paste this into your corsair aircraft.cfg, as far as I can tell there is no cable force settings in the model so this should help stop/reduce the noseover, ballast in the tail is not a option for me as it upsets all flight characteristics to some degree.

Copy paste under [launch_assistance]

[tailhook]
cable_force_adjust= 2

Thanks for posting these. I have started testing the catapult settings (I could trap already). The Corsair would not hold on the Ark Royal and at first the Hellcat would not hold on the Nimitz (the great, free version). However, I discovered that I can catapult safely with the engines low engaging them after exiting the ship. I also noticed that there was a problem with the plane wanting to roll backwards (anywhere on the ship). The headwind was strong enough to blow the plane backwards. A small amount of throttle (just enough to remain stationary) seemed to help. I am going to keep testing as it seems that at least this weather issue may play a role.

mfitch, there are no problems with the aircraft or the ships with regard to cat launching, without delving to much I remember reading somewhere in the default FSX carrier that with MAX REALISM you get less than 5 sec at full throttle before the holdback dissengages, again the wind thing is not a plane problem, is it rolling back with the brakes on, I have Victorious steaming at 29 kts with no problems and the Same with Ark Royal
