Question re MAW and joystick controls

Has anyone experienced a problem setting joystick contols with MAW? I'm using a Saitek X52 Flight Control System. MAW refuses to recognize certain buttons (specifically T1 through T6 on the joystick) even after they have been properly selected using CFS3's control options. This is not a problem in any other CFS3 sim.

I've no problem using X52 with MAW. Many buttons, including T1-6 are mapped to a keystroke. This may be a simple solution for you, using the programming tool that comes on the driver CD and mapping only those buttons that fail to be recognized.
Hope it helps.

:kilroy:Wsmwsm, this is a problem with MAW only. You are certainly not alone in this.

Here's the fix:

First of all, you must be able to see hidden files and folders on your computer, and it would be a very good idea to see the file name extensions as well, such as *.xml, *.xca, and *.exe.

Do this:

To find XP Application Data folder, open your Windows XP browser and look for the Tools tab at the top. Click on it and look for Folder Options. Click the View tab and look for “Hidden files and folders”. Make sure “Show hidden files and folders” is checked. While you’re here, also make sure that “Hide extensions for known file types” is unchecked.

For the same locations in Vista:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft for Application Data folder location For the Vista equivalent of the XP ApplicationData\Microsoft location.

C:\Users\\Documents for the Vista equivalent of the XP My Documents folder location.

After you have done the above, do this:

a. For XP, go into C:\Documents and Settings\User Name (Your Name)\Application Data\Microsoft and look for a folder named "Combat Flight Simulator 3.0" or another of your installs other that MAW. Go into the selected folder (one for an install in which you have successfully programmed your stick) and look for a file that ends with ".xca". There should be at least two of these files in there. One will be named "CFS3.xca" and the other will be whatever you named your stick, with the ".xca" file extension. Simply copy the one you have named that is not the CFS3.xca file and copy it into the MAW folder found inside the Application Data/Microsoft folder. Voila! Instant stick programming. It's that simple.

b. For Vista, it's the same procedure for XP, except that the location of the folders you're looking for is: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft.

I hope this helps.:d

G.

I will soon give that a try. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem with MAW. Seems to effect only toggle switches T1 and T2, but it's odd.

I use Vista.
