Question: Scenery on an external (portable) HD?

Motormouse

SOH-CM-2025
Just wondering if anyone has experience of running fs9 add-on scenery from an
external HD.

I figure I could get one portable HD then use it for the common sceneries (mostly Gottfried Razek's photostuff) I use on both my 'home' rig and travelling laptop, and save some GB's of space on both machines at once.

Anyone got any experience of this? Pro's and con's?

Works fine, just be sure you have it properly entered in your scenery library on both machines.

Also, if you DON'T have it hooked up when you try to use one of the programs, you will get a LARGE number of "scenery areas not found" errors. You can just "ok" thru them, and just not fly in those areas.

Not specific to scenery, but I have Golden Wings installed on an external and it works fine.

pretty much anything that can be in a folder outside the main FS folder can be put on an external drive, and will work fine. On todays machines and OS's there is no discernible lag in performance.
