Question to the Research Department

Olham54

The Bordeaux-Red Baron
Hi, SHREDWARD and other researchers

DEJ and I exchanged links for maps (see thread "Maps"), and he had one showing the airfields of all sides throughout wartime. He said, there were some unknowns (quote):
"Those maps could maybe resolve some of those unknowns. For example, Montigny Ferme, where Jasta 11 were from middle to end August 1918, I believe is somewhere around Fontaine Notre Dame, about 5 miles west of Cambrai... maybe one of those maps will show it." (end of quote)

Now I looked into the trench maps of McMaster university again, but found nothing near Fontaine Notre Dame. But I found these two airfields North-West of Cambrai (see JPEG). You could study yourself here:

http://lt1.mcmaster.ca/ww1/wrz4mp.php?grid=51b&map_id=433&view

Are those known? And do you or anyone of the research team know, were the above mentioned airfield was?

Thanks; Olham

Hallo Olham,
Sorry I missed this. Montigny Ferme was near Bernes, straight E of Péronne, about halfway between Péronne and St Quentin.
Cheers,
shredward

Map with aerodrome Montigny ferme found

Hi, SHREDWARD,
thanks to your help, I found the map at McMasters, showing the field at the lower edge. I made a JPEG and show the web link to the map in my thread "Maps" - thanks a lot! That search was fun!
