I'm installing right now! Ordering the 20th...live in Tennessee, BTW. I've got the 2-disc cd-rom version of CFS3. Can I still delete the original CFS3 folder after I'm done installing OFF?

I was always given to understand that once installed, OFF has all the required files in its own directory and that you could delete the original CSF3 completely with no troubles. Wait until a few more people respond, in case I am wrong.

Quick answer yes (provided you installed OFF P3 elsewhere of course as you should).

It seems to me if you delete CFS3 you'd have no cfs3config file and you'd be kinda screwed.

But hey what do I know. Don't answer that.

The Configs from Desktop are CFS3, they do NO good for OFF

My Computer>C drive>Progam Files>Microsoft Games>CFSWWI OFF

File with the wrench on it :kilroy:

I'll try moving the CFS3 directory first...if no problems come up, I'll delete it.

BTW, just flew a few QC missions...OMG this ROCKS!!!! Can't wait to try the campaign.

Nope. OFF makes its own copy of all the needed CSF3 files and puts them in its own directories. These are totally seperate, so OFF should be unaffected if you delete CSF3.

cfs3

Hi,

are we talking only off3 here, or does this also apply to off2?

(ie,,,if you have off2, can you remove your cfs3 install.....)

Hi Guys,

every standalone installation of CFS3 whether its OFF 1, 2 or 3, Korean skies, PTO, ETO, MAW they alll have a configs tool inside the main install folder for each addon.

In OFF P3 its linked to the manager, but the others just navigate to the cfs3config.exe in each of the installs, make a shortcut to your desktop name it to which addon its applied to and your set.

ie
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\cfs3config.exe

they are not all linked to your defualt CFS3 install. again as above once you have any of these addons installed you could completely remove your stock CFS3 with no effect as they are all complete standalones of the game.

I have several differant config file setups for the various installs for OFF I turn off just about everything, for ETO PTO MAW I leave some things enabled and some things disabled. and I have never had a corruption of one config file by the config file of another addon.
I even have differant joystick setups for each addon, based on what type of plane I fly mostly in each, again no conflict from addon to addon.

the only addons that interact directly with a defualt CFS3 install are;
Battle of Britain
Firepower
D-Day
mosquito (or something like that)
and any 3rd party planes etc if you install them in your stock CFS3.
after installing these if you were to remove CFS3 then you have just removed CFS3 and your newly installed addon.

HTH's

regards Rob.
