R.I.P. my little co-pilot

Here is my little co-pilot, Sophee (yes, two E's), who passed away this morning at the too young age of 9 yrs.

Here, she often sat, standing guard against the pesky squirrels in the back yard or telling me what a horrible landing that was I just made. She was spoiled. I made that perch for her so she could still look out the window like she used to when I had a CRT. I'm going to miss her. It was all so sudden. Last night she was fine and acting perfectly normal. Her lungs filled with fluid for some reason. She was on a respirator and the outlook was so grim. I couldn't see her suffer, so I had them put her to sleep.

Goodbye little Sophee.

Sorry to hear your sad news cratermaker. It is always hard to lose a beloved pet, but even harder to watch them suffering.

Our own 14 year old cat died last year from a condition called acromegally. Toward the end we had the awful choice of treating him with diuretics to keep his lungs free from fluid, but damage his kidneys, or allow him to suffer from something akin to pleurisy. He went downhill very fast at the end, purring on my lap at 11 o'clock in the evening and being taken to the vet at 4 o'clock in the morning, unable to breathe.
He was also diabetic and two injections of insulin daily, plus a variety of other palliative medications. He was so loving, stoic and helpful when given his medication, he never complained, I never got scratched or bitten and he was always cheerful.

My heart goes out to you, CM...they are people with four legs and a tail and you get to know them and suddenly, they are a fixture in your life, living it with you!

CM, I feel your pain. Lost my model supervisor in jan. 08. Had her around for 18 years. I haven't finished but two models since. I keep hoping for a replacement.

Good killer cat too, kills mice better than all 5 of the other cats (2 currently) that have occupied this abode. Got me up on time in the morning, even when I didn't want to get up.

Truly miss her as I am sure you will your co. Get a replacement, sometimes you win, sometimes you get a fat lazy male feline like both of the examples I have now!

Sad news indeed...
I am very sorry about your loss. Special Words will be said for you & Sophee tonight.

My much loved and loving, tough, smart and sweet, lovely and talented cat Amelia is sleeping on warm laundry on my bed -- I'll give her some pets for Sophee.
Hang in,

Very saddening news! Sorry for your loss!

Lost my first cat for the same reason at about the same age (we presume, since we didn´t know how old she really was). It was a heart-insufficiency that caused the water in her body. Still have an album with pics...

My condolences!
Alex

It's hard to take. We've lost several of our family cats also.
