SOH-CM-2025
I wanted to do something else from KC-97's and P-38's so I revisited the Captain Sim 707.
It could be someone else painted this already, but I couldn't find anything, so...
(still wip)

I don't have this one, is there a kc135 version of this as well? or AWACS? Looks fantastic Jankees! I wish I had 10% of your skills! I would love to petition CS to rerelease a version of their model that incorporates the diffuse alpha.

CS 707 is wonderful a wonderful aircraft. Would be great to have some shiny polished alloy paints for it.

Rick, there have been some C-135 (no boom) paints done for this but it is on the 707-300 PAX model, the KC-135 has the older design, shorter fuselage so its not perfectly accurate. CS have a - separately priced - AWACS version.

Lovely paint of a beautiful aircraft Jankees!! I remember being surprised to find some at Richmond air base when I was driving back to Sydney from the Blue Mountains in 2001. Thought they'd have been gone by then.

I did one a couple of years ago....but it broke...;) [A.O.M.]

hahahahaha..

Dave Garwoods Beaufighter used to do that when I had a beta on my old AMD XP3200 rig. Thank goodness I can run it now:encouragement:

That happened when I was painting it...8.8.8 bitmaps were a bit of a load.
Back to DDS and it was OK [and since then a bit more PC grunt]....;)

Here it was buzzing YMML. They were dirty buggers...;)

Yes indeed:encouragement:

I had to remove the VC from the FS9 version to stop it crawling along in low double figures (the CS707 that is). Never bothered with the FSX version.

Seems flying in a 707 could get 'interesting'...
Define 'interesting'....;)

Actually...my first inter flight [as part of the RMIT Architecture course] was on a chartered 707 ....back in '72 ...;)

I may be wrong, but weren't the engines thrown back over the top of the wings when ejected? I recall seeing a TV programme about this many years ago, when an engine came off a 707 on take off from Heathrow.

D.

The Heathrow incident the engine powered forward and oscillated, the one you maybe confuse with was the DC-10 out of O'hare were the rear bolt gave away first then rolled across the top and rolling into the ground due to damage to control surface course the aircrew not knowing they lost the engine plus the weight , the Heathrow accident engine power off causing a fire , the crew were so quick witted they turned the 707 back on a reverse course .. landed it before the entire aircraft was engulfed in flames with the lost off only from memory one cabin member ...

Looks great expat , doing a little research the other day , tho not a C-135 , the first USAF aircraft in this cat first landed at Christchurch in 1963 , back then the runway 02/20 was 1930M that same year they rebuilt/lengthened the runway another 427M given it extra for the first QANTAS arrival in 1965 .

Hmm, very nice, I think I have to dig the CS707 out again and try it in P3D.
Lovely repaint, Jankees, I like the contrast between the painted parts and the natural metal, looks very realistic.

Anyone tried a Tex Johnston barrel roll in it :) ??

Cheers,
Mark

To complement its Boeing 707-300 line, Captain Sim has a 707-300C freighter version...

Metal2Mesh includes an AI tanker in its Dassault Mirage 2000C package (you need the VRS Tac Pack though, which I don't). I converted it to a flyable KC-135R by merging Captain Sim 707 VC (from their free demo version) with the M2M tanker exterior, and it's fun! But no landing gears, and no way to animate the boom or rogues... basically just a waste of time... but that's what I like, hacks and experiments...
