Racing Seafury

That Sea Fury looks excellent, even if it is a racing version. Their C140 looks like a really nice little aircraft too. Does anyone have it?
 
That airplane, owned by Stewart Dawson, is hangared about 4 miles from me at North Texas Regional. Up until about 4 months ago (when my company went bankrupt) I used to see it almost every day when he pulled it out to go fly. Beautiful airplane and you can't imagine how huge the spinner and prop are on that baby until you stand right in front of it, lol.
 
I have the C140 and the C172 from SimFlight3D. Externally, they look pretty good, they fly well, but the VCs leave a lot to be desired. This is one developer I want to keep and eye on and support. There is a lot of promise there.

Yea, me too, I'm waiting to see what they post for a VC. I may make some prints, drive out to the airport and see if I can catch Stewart when he's around to see how close they came, lol
 
Those look pretty good to me. I hope they keep coming out with high performance aircraft.
 
It's the racer.... a standard Sea Fury would mean a complete new model.

But as for me - I LOVE it! I shall definitely add this to my Reno Race fleet! Might well even paint it - although there aren't that many race prepped Furies around...

Chris, I'd have to go out to the airport to be sure, but looking at the livery they show on the site, something about it doesn't look quite right (of course just looking online could probably confirm this). An updated "Spirit of Texas" livery might be in order to begin with.

Addendum: I think I see what bothered me about it. The lower area of the fuselage. . . .in the actual photo you can see a nice clean line that finished off the paint scheme, but in their shot. . .I guess what that's supposed to be is "exhaust or oil residue". . .maybe? I've never seen that on the actual airplane. . .Stewart would never allow that, lol.
 
The oil streaking might not be allowed before the race, but there will probably be some afterwards... Unless it's out of oil....

I am sure the RTW race crowd would love a stock sea fury to replace some of the ancient ones still making the rounds. Ironic that the big FS race event allows only stock aircraft....

The what looks to be oil streaking is actually the portrayal of the underside flag graphics - showing the edge between the color of the aircraft and the color of the white of the flag design below. As of right now, it looks like the exterior textures are still in progress - as there are thus two different edges to these graphics. It is obvious that the textures are made from photos, so I assume that some more work has to be done to them to make the look be seamless - which from my perspective it would be much nicer if the textures were created by hand, as then you wouldn't have to make compromises with what you get from photos, and it would allow there to be a clean paintkit for more paint schemes in the future.
 
This is how I like payware to be. It hasn't been shoved down our throats as 'the next big thing', it has been quietly developed and then discovered by a member here. It looks as if it will do it's own advertising. Products that look this good sell themselves. As long as it sounds and flies decent, there won't be a gang of people angry in the release thread about how they feel mislead; instead there will be testimonials from happy customers that only serve to advertise for this product, much like the Lotus L-39.

Snow is tapering off here now (9:45). Streets should be fun by early morning with the overnight temps in the 20's, lol. Can't wait!!:jump:
