FS2004 scenery for RAF Greenham Common by Brian Clarke. The scenery uses objects from various scenery libraries, listed in the readme. I have also included some flightplans for C-130's, C-5's and C-141's to fly in and out of the base. These will also require separate downloads. RAF Greenham Common is a former Royal Air Force station in Berkshire, England. The airfield is located to the south-east of Newbury, Berkshire, about 50 miles (80 km) west of London. Opened in 1942, it was used by both the Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War and the United States Air Force during the Cold War. After the Cold War ended, it was closed in 1993. The airfield was also known for the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp held outside its gates in the 1980s. In 1997 Greenham Common was designated as public parkland.

Hey guys, my installed runway is sitting about 15 feet below the terrain and looks similar to the terrain fault jpg's included with the file. The readme is pretty sparse. How can I correct this?

Thanks,
Steve

As part of the protests, or just a regular part of your evenings out? ;-)]

Thanks Ian.

A good tip that works for me most of the time with flatten problems, open up the offending Afcad or ADE file and lay down an unconnected taxiway at zero width and run it along the lenght of the runway parallel with the runway link,

try this file and see if it helps, but back up the original before adding, i lost all the objects the first time i try'd it :banghead:

Well, Ian, you've definitely opened up the centerline for me! :untroubled: Seriously, thanks for posting your fix.

I guess my setup needs a flatten but that's where the wheels come off for me!

Can someone point me to a tut on how to do a flatten or is that too risky for a novice (read that as "someone who knows absolutely nothing about modifying scenery!).

Ah, not really a solution, oh well back to the drawing board, it may be that im using a third party mesh for the area which is why it works just for me, here's hoping the original designers will come out with a fix,
cheers ian

I'm using FSG meshes and a few addon sceneries in the area as well which may be causing my problem.

Thanks again Ion. :encouragement:

Update

Hey Ian, your method did work. I went in to ADE9 and widened the taxiway you placed under the runway to be only 10' narrower than the runway and about 4' longer. the taxiway flatten extended several feet beyond its actual dimensions and now I have a runway I can use! Thanks for the tip.

There are other problems caused by lack of an airport flatten such as the bunker type buildings are elevated above the airport roadway system serving them and that roadway suffers the same fate as the runway - parts of it are underground.

Now to learn how to do a flatten file.

Cheers,
Steve

Have a go with these file's, these are SBuilder generated flattens and are a bit more sophisticated, hopfully they'll work better-----just unzip into the Greenham / scenery folder

cheers ian

I feel some B-52s coming on.....

Ive gone for something a bit more retro :wavey:, might try a traffic file, see how many of Gregg Peppers old classic i can get on the tarmac before my PC starts to slow down--

Thanks a bunch Ian. I'll give 'em a go 1st thing in the am.

Ian, thanks very much. That did the trick! :encouragement: :encouragement:

Sorry to dig this old thread up, but doing a search for a problem with this scenery threw this thread up

None of the cars in the parking lot on this scenery have textures for me :banghead:

I have the Parking Lot SS scenery files installed and as you can see by the arrow those textures show......but the circled Car scenery objects just wont show textures :dizzy:

The rest of the scenery is fine but the cars......even tried to use DXTBmp to convert them and still no luck

Thanks
Matt

FS2004 Car Scenery Object Library. This is a library of civilian car/truck objects that have been used on a number of sceneries and is now being releasing as a stand-alone library for public use. The library contains over fifty vehicle objects including a few RVs and follow-me/airport vehicles. In addition it includes several composite models of vehicle sets to be used in parking lots. All objects are XML based and can be placed with most scenery programs. By John Stinstrom.

hope this works, cheers ian

That one works fine (had it already installed haha) but unfortunately its not the ones tied to the scenery, they're part of the Parking Lots scenery objects by Sidney Schwartz and no amount of re-downloading seems to work

Oh well thanks for trying :encouragement:

i wish i could help further, i have the same bgls on my system and they seem to work fine, maybe a look over at the MAIW forum, the designers of this scenery are regulars over there.

good luck, i know how small things like this can be very annoying, cheers ian
