RAF scheme for Donation P51c?

SOH-CM-2024
Im reading Roland White's latest book, Mosquito, and was wondering if there's an RAF scheme for the donation ware P51c anywhere, had a good look in the library in both CFS2 and FS9 section, but no joy

I am not aware there is one. A while back I started this repaint based on the paintkit by David Green. It was intended for the RAF Coolham scenery by Motormouse. But as I ran into some problems (see the whit on the left wing) I abandoned this repaint. As I do have the SkyUnlimited and the Warbirdsim P51 B/C in RAF livery the project also wasn't very interesting for me.

But when you want it, I can of course finish it. (But you should have some patience)

Cheers,
Huub

I think it looks pretty good, but i can see the mapping issue. i can understand losing interest, i have a sizable folder of airfields ive run out of steam with, but if you do get it finished, i'll take a copy :encouragement:

Years ago we had a repaint contest here at the SOH. The challenge was to create a repaint for the donationware P51. I'm quite sure one of the entries was a RAF repaint, but I can't find it anywhere in my backups.
The contest was won by John "Bomber_12th" Terrell.

The answer is already given. So I'm a bit too late for the party. But I finished my RAF repaint for the Donationware P51. Instead of another Polish Mustang, I decided to do one from No 19 Squadron.

And what I made of it :

Edit : I see I still have to remove at least one fuel cap!

That shouldn't be too complicated. I have to check how I can bypass an anomaly in the texturing of the left wing. Bur for the rest it is all straight forward.

Still some minor corrections to do, and I need to align the invasion stripes on the wings. But I think I'm slowly getting there.... Even the camera has already been installed.

For those who still don't have enough RAF Mustangs

Normally I try to find the story behind the repaints I do. And often the story is more interesting than the repaint.

In this case you see the Mustang III as flown by Flt Thomas Henry Drinkwater in March-February 1944. Drinkwater flew with 19 Squadron, until he was appointed as Squadronleader of 122 Squadron in April 1944. On the 18th of May 1944 he failed to return from an armed reconnaisance mission over occupied France. He was shot by flak, flying this aircraft (FZ164) over the French town of Vouvray near Tours and crashed into a bridge. His aircraft carried the name of his bride "Wilf", which was short for Winifred. (No, not the Scottish female aviation pioneer)

The RAF Mustangs carried the same white identification marks as their American colleagues. These were applied to make the Mustangs easier to identify and to avoid confusion with square winged German fighters like the early Bf109s and the FW190.
