RAF Vulcan

SOH-CM-2024
I've been tempted to pick up the Just Flight RAF Vulcan, but haven't convinced myself yet. I'm not much of a bomber fan, but it sure looks good.

It seems to have been around awhile, so I was wondering what everyone thinks about it. How's the VC, for example? Sounds, flight model, effects?

Thanks in advance.

it's great!! It's an all around good package. It's about an eight out of ten in all areas. Nothing's cutting edge, but it's an all around good aircraft that'll give you good FPS. If you're a Vulcan guy, you won't be dissapointed.

I always loved the sounds on the PSS/ JF Vulc.

As Tigisfat says, you won't be disappointed. Though if you use FSX it looks like the IRIS Vulc is about to take centre stage!

No Joy so far

Okay, I got it this morning but we're still not out of the woods.

The purchase was straightforward, but it took awhile to figure out how to unlock and install. Once I got it installed, I went for a test flight and it would not load. FS9 aborted with a fatal error message related to the pss-vulcan.gau gauge.

I'm off to run an errand with the wife, but will return and figure out what is going on. I didn't see anything on the JF support page about this, so if anyone has a suggestion, I'm open to it. Hate to see my $30 be thrown away.

Hey WH,

I have this too, but don't have any ideas as mine was bought before it was downloadable, so I have the disc, no code needed and no problems. I installed it and went flying. She's one of my favourite aircraft and is quite often my default flight, usually out of Ascension Island.

Try a reinstall first? The only thing I can think of is to check to see if the gauge is present, either in the gauges folder, or in the panel folder. If the later, try moving it to the gauge folder. I'm not sure but I think this gauge has some quite complex features that may affect performance, etc. Ihad some problems with it when I was beta testing another gauge package on it, but that's a different story.

You could also try temporarily transplanting in the default 747 panel to see if it works okay with that?

Thanks JD. I figured out a solution. :woot:

I had to add the gauge to the [OldModules] section in FS9.cfg. Worked like a charm. The screenshot is from my 2nd flight, but 1st landing at Boeing Field. :applause:

My guess is that because the a/c was initially designed for FS 2002, the guague had some heartburn with my setup. Looks like I guessed right.

I did find something interesting that's going to need a little more research. While researching the problem I found two variants of the PSS-Vulcan.gau gauge. An earlier version dated 5/15/2007 is in the panel folder, whereas the newer version dated 4/15/2008 is in the gauges folder. Both are different in size.

Thanks for your input. Gotta go read the manual, now.

mine,

gauge folder, dated 14-3-07, size 19.1MB
none in the panel folder, although I may have removed it a long time ago, as I always move all gauges into the main folder, don't recall, also don't recall being prompted to over-write if and when I did, lol!!

no entry for me in the olé old modules section either and no problems caused without it.

Jamie

Both of mine are the same version, and same size as yours. The one in the panel folder appears to have a Just Flight signature, making the file slightly larger than the one in the gauge folder. Both are listed as an FS 2002 gauge by the same designer.
