'Raikkonen to NASCAR.'

:applause:

I am happy to hear this and welcome Kimi to our sod. It's going to be good to see a true quality European driver try these old heaps turning left.

Gonna be a cool day in Martinsville this Sunday, but no rain is in the extended forecast right now. Friday's qualifying looks to be a washout and they'll probably start Sunday on the current standings, that doesn't look good for Denny Hamlin. Martinsville is the most difficult track on the circuit to come from the back of the pack on. And those stranded there will be lapped in about 25 laps of the race.

Should be interesting...
Raikkonen & Montoya were team-mates in F1...I wonder if they've been talking about NASCAR....

Kimi has always been his own man, let's hope it stays that way.
BTW, anyone check out the Rally of Portugal???
Maybe Ken Block should go NASCAR, he sure is a dead loss in WRC.

Ken Block is too much of an poo-shoot even for NASCAR.

This makes no sense at all. The guy won't or can't pay his bills but is still allowed back in.

UPDATE - Evernham: Ray Evernham, a former partner of Foster Gillett at Richard Petty Motorsports was a little bit astounded when he learned of the rumor of Kimi Raikkonen coming to NASCAR with a new team owned by Foster Gillett. "I really don't know why Kimi would partner with people who continually fail with sports franchises," Evernham told Auto123.com. "I don't know how they could leave with so many unpaid bills and return to the sport," Evernham added. Evernham says he was not paid over $19USD million and brought a lawsuit against his former partner earlier this year in a state court in North Carolina.(Auto123.com)(3-29-2011)
UPDATE 2: Former Formula One champion Kimi Raikkonen has received approval from NASCAR to compete in the Camping World truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 20th. Raikkonen is slated to make his debut in the truck series later this summer with a team that includes former Richard Petty Motorsports principal Foster Gillette as a partner. Gillett's father George was the owner of RPM before financial issues forced them to sell the remaining assets of the team to an investor group led by Richard Petty (CBS Sports)(3-31-2011)

I guess the loophole might be the 'partner' definition, and how much clout Gillette has within the team.
