Bought it...and I had some points to take even more moola off!

I have enough points to make it a free purchase but I'm not gonna waste 'em on something that looks like it was built from a parts bin!!:biggrin-new:

Bah! I do it all the time. Why should you be any different! :a1310: LOL

Either of you guys know why I can't tune 118.00 on my comm1 radio? Eletrical power is on and all my radios are on. I saw a note in the manual about avionics master switch but I can't find any other mention of this in the manual. Does it simply mean turn the radios to on? Anyway the problem is I can't tune 118.00. I want to fly online and that is clearance but when I try to tune that I only see 118.01... and it will go to 118.03, .05 and so on.

I tried that info didn't help. All my freqs loaded in the default flt (in P3D's case xml file) are valid frequencies. I even saved anew flight using the mooney bravo retro with valid freqs, saved it as my default flight, and loaded the metro after. the standby automatically tuned to 118.01 instead of my default flight's 118.00

Hmmm

Meh, I read your post over at Avsim... as "spokes2112" noted in one of the threads about this, seems most likely that the cause is "A bad "direct" key-in of the frequency via an advanced radio set or flight planner integration -or- bad coding of a radio gauge that allowed it. The first option - a bad direct key-in - might be undone using your GTN750 to key in the correct freq. Failing that it could be time to "get a hold of the designer so he/she can fix it". Either way, it's a head-scratcher for sure.

I found a quick & dirty fix that may work for you - it works for me ok. It involves editing a couple of xml files within the gauge file called "Metro_IIIC.CAB".

The files are RM3_COM1.xml & RM3_COM2.xml

change the line
118.01 100 * 10000 % int
to
118.00 100 * 10000 % int

do this for both files

Hope this helps

Ok how do I repack the edited file into a .cab file?

I tried compressing back to .zip and renaming .cab but then I couldn't view the contents.

I guess I could just make a folder within my panel folder named the same as that gauge and run the sim.

argh... didn't work for me... the standby freq is still not allowing 118.00.

edit again: Nevermind I think I'm going crazy - IT IS working now.

I'm using FSX by-the-way. No idea if P3D works the same way.

You don't need to add files back into CAB file.

Create a folder within panel folder called "Metro_IIIC" & place edited files in there.
There are two panel folders used on different aircraft so you will need to do it for both.

Put all your files into a folder and then drop the folder onto cabdir.exe from the SDK.
If you haven't got the SDK installed then you can probably find cabdir.exe easily enough by Googling it.

Or just leave it as a folder, it still works the same. Watch out though, if you have a folder and a .cab file with the same name, I don't know which one FS will read first so it'll be a recipe for confusion.

Yeah in FSX it read from the panel folder first. In P3D it apparently reads the main gauges folder first, because I had to rename the filename in the main gauges folder.

But even after doing this edit I now have a weird green text scrolling my screen about every minute lol... oh the mystery!

The green bar appears if you try to use the weather radar - best not to switch it on as it doesn't work anyway! Someone has a replacement WX radar on the official Metroliner forum. Also checkout some of the other mods there.
