RAZBAM P-3 WIP

That's an Alpha for sure, the way to tell an A or B model from the C is the ladder and the door. On the earlier models the ladder was folded and unfolded by the crew, we literally threw it out and dragged the thing inside. The Charlies had powered airstairs and the door had a cut out at the bottom if I remember right, damn, it's been 21 years since I worked on one. One more thing that I was taught by my LPO who also worked at Lockheed, the Update III birds had a blade antenna on the very top of the fin. I used to know that bird very well when I was the Line and Ordnance LPO for VP-0919. Best thing about the Navy Reserve back then, a 3rd Class had better opportunity for leadership roles and the P-3 gave me a good foundation for later in my career.

<-------- That's me on the flightline at NAS Moffet launching one of VP-9's birds with out Skipper and COMPATWING 10 on board in 1990.

well shoot i just sent ron a email about his comment about finding info...ill do you too...

I got your PM. Thanks for the offer. We'll keep it in mind, but as I said the first batch will be the sub hunter. We do have in mind to create the specialized P-3s, but that will be a later release.

I talked this with Ron and he is okay with the idea. After the main type is out we will build a firefighter version. Not only for the P-3 but for the A-26 as well.

Please do not upset anybody on our account. We will announce when the firefighting birds will be developed/released. It won't be on this year. Our tray is already full.

Fantastic! I have always had a soft spot for this plane, and I just know you guys will do it so right!

I was looking for an excuse to buy the Just Flight Iceland and Reykjavik scenery, this may be final reason I have no excuses!

I feel some flights from Keflavik coming on!

VC looks great.

Cheers,

Fraser

You will like to know that the second image was taken after taking off from Keflavyk and flying towards the GIUK gap.

My fav's were always the flights out of Rota, Suda Bay, and Scotland.....but Bemuda was always a nice change...oh an RIO for RIMPAC.

My most "exciting" flight was trying to reaquire a "boat" that the previous aircraft accidently pinged........dropped the wrong bouy......needless to say someone got their butts chewed out....bad. Glad it wasn't me....:salute:

i know im a confuzzeled sort,,,but this is the P3C?..is this also the plane that is being built(re-built?/re-furbished?) by EADS,ect in spain for the likes of Brasil? or Peru?...gosh i wish i could remember the things i read in my magazines,,,so my question is...will these have "liveries" only dealing with the USA ASW units?..or other countries?..ect?...just asking..

Couple of P-3 stories, both before my time but were still being talked about when I was in VP-65 in 82 ( has it really been 30 years?!)

First one was when I was trying to be Aircrew, was trying to be an AW didn't work out that's why I'm an AO, one of the AWC's at the time had a sonobouy foul a Russian boat. The sub surfaced and he said he heard a lot of jabbering then suddenly there was a lot of metallic noise. The suckers were dragging the bouy in side and all those hydrophones were bouncing on the deck, all 20 feet of them. ASWOC to the tapes on return and did not give them back.

Second one was told to me by this guy I worked for out in the oil fields in Kern County. This guy was an East Coast sub hunter and was in the Navy in the 60's. Anyway during an exercise with NATO forces they had found their prey, a Brit sub who refused to surface per the rules after they had dropped a Practice Depth Charge (PDC). They dropped a couple more and still no sub on the waves. The PPC told the guys in the back to "get their attention". Remeber the PDC's at the time carried a few grams of tetryl that made a loud bang, these guys threw a case of them out the door when the SS3 guy yelled mark on top. The bang these made wrecked Her Majesty's radar antenna and blew out the packing on the periscope. When I told my mentor about this story wondering if it was BS or not Gary just looked at me and said " You know Arville? He's nuts and it's true."

Well two P-3 sea stories to hold us until the Razbam bird is released.
