RCAF Rescue Dakota out!

Dear gents,

following a proposal Javis bugged into my ear, my RCAF Dak was pushed into the paint shack again.
She just rolled out with some rescue markings...

The depicted livery shows how she appeared in 1967 as a RESCUE bird, based at Abbotsford, BC.
I didn't manage to get a true photo of the real plane, but various sources tell that the later Dakotas wore light blue lower surfaces and the CSR Daks had grey painted upper surfaces on their wings to prevent glare effects for the observing rescue crew. The combination of the 'older' roundel and the maple leaf flag on the vertical stabilizer (instead of the RCAF's 'red ensign') may stand for the transition period from RCAF to the amalgamated Canadian Forces in 1968.

Differing from my 'clean' KN269, this lady has a slightly worn appearance:
The alpha channel was omitted and some subtle weathering, exhaust and oil stains were applied.

Take her out and save some lives!

Should be available at flightsim.com soon.
(Still can't upload to SOH - anything wrong with those servers? :engel016: GD&R)

Regards,
Markus.

Looks good, Markus!:applause:

I can't wait to add it to my hangar!

Dude- "Fnerg" did a series of six RCAF paints for the default DC-3. They are available here at SOH!

Thanks, mate!

Henry was so kind to show me an other way to upload to SOH again, and so I did.
She'll be available here also.

Oh I know all about that, I already have them. There quite a collection.:jump:

As for the MAAM-SIM C-47, a friend let me try his once and I found that some of the gauges arn't compatable with my computer. Dont worry, I'll definetly buy it later in life.

The good news is that she's right now available at SOH.

But here's some bad news for the rivet counter fraction I can't deny to be part of:
The drawings I took as reference for my repaint show the supercharger hatches - so does the model. This ship was built by Douglas Corp. Oklahoma City, #13310 and delivered to USAAF as C-47B-20-DK, serial number 42-93402, then went to RAF and RCAF as KG587. In June 1970, it was renumbered to CC-129 31, struck off 13 August 1975.

But some other sources named her to be a Mark III, which means a former C-47A (without chargers), and that's why I declared her as a MkIII:isadizzy: ...

Take her as a MkIII or a MkIV, as long as you treat her well... :ernae:

My-Oh-My!! :applause: You're certainly very kind indeed to us Canucks, Markus! We went from having only a couple of obscure paints for the MAAM-Sim Goons, to having all of these lovely representations: 3 Daks and a "Dizzy" (the TCA job)! Just wonderful, Sir, and I do thank you so sincerely!

And I quite agree with your assessment of the MAAM-Sim Dak/DC-3: The "Default" job can't carry the MAAM-Sim's laundry to the washhouse!

That's a great re-paint, and I look forward to adding it! :applause: If you're not bored with doing MAAM Dak re-paints, I have a couple of USAAF D-Day vets that I'd love to see done, one of which dropped the Band of Brothers 506th PIR into combat!

Thank you, guys!
Appreciate your feedback.

@ planejunky:
Getting bored of the MAAM-Dakota?
No, Sir! Now that I (almost completely...) cracked the code of her maddening squeezed texture parts, I thinks some more repaints shall be set on this gal!
The idea of some D-Day variants sounds nice, but I think there's already a whole bunch of them included in the extension packs provided by MAAM-Sim. Did you check them out?

Cheers,
Markus.

Yes I have all those ones, but of course I'm greedy and want some more! :d;)

The aircraft I'm after are a couple of the airworthy C-47's we have in the UK. Here's one of them with rather attractive noseart.

Uhhh - that's nice! :applause:

The shot of the 87th TCS emblem is something to start with...
Do you know who's the owner of this ship? Serial-No.?

Currently, I'm on this one...

but she's gonna be out soon...

Cheers,
Markus.

Argh - please forget my question above.
Your link to uk-warbirds wasn't visible to me as long as I was logged in - server issue again...

Now I'm on her trace.

That ARS machine looks great Markus!

Yes 3X-P is a lovely aeroplane and is also a D-Day veteran. The pictures here would be the same pics found on UK Warbirds. I can email you what pictures we have if you'd like them for a MAAM repaint. :)

43-15211 J8-B is another C-47 operated by Wings Venture, and was flown from RAF Upottery with the 506th PIR/101st Airborne (the now famous Band of Brothers) on June 5th/6th 1944. This one has no noseart or anything, so a simple scheme for those with the skills, but a historically significant machine all the same. Sadly she's been grounded for 2009 due to economic pressures, but hopefully she'll be flying again next year.

Thanks, guys!

I found some nice pics of the 3X-Skytrain.
Although she's a little to 'clean' to be my kind of gal, she's No. 1 parked in front of the paint shack.

This one is to be rolled out next:
Worn and dirty.
That's what I like... :engel016:

That looks stunning mate!

That's great, thanks for doing this one! Yes do try to keep "Drag em oot" nice and clean, she is a preserved bird after all and enjoys the TLC! ;)

Nice to see you're having fun with the ol' Dak, Marcus ! Great job, man ! :applause::ernae::applause:
cheers,
Jan
