Reïnstalling FSX

Guys,

I've seen a lot of threads pass by about people having trouble uninstalling and reïnstalling FSX, so I tried to help and found the following links:

http://support.precisionmanuals.com/...stall-fsx.aspx

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answer...simulator.html

Very usefull: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows...leanUp_Utility

Apparently it all boils down to uninstalling all the addons that you have, uninstalling FSX itself, cleaning the registry of all possible traces and running the microsoft fixit tool. Here are the folders that should be deleted AFTER uninstalling!

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

Then run the reg cleaner prog that you have (I use Ccleaner), and then run the fixit tool.

I hope this will help people in the future!

Take care,

Dumonceau

Iobit has a great uninstall tool, that removes all enrtyies from the regestry. A simple uninstall many times leaves tons of entries in the regestry.

You can get it from their site, just be carefull when you install it to avoid any extras they have included.

Ditto on the tool. I have it, and it works great! NC
