This is an amazing story. It's only 2.5 minutes, but you will be absolutely amazed, because this is a one in a billion (let alone a lifetime) occurrence.


An entire crew of a B-29 (12 aviators) was rescued by a US submarine after their plane was shot down in ~1945, 70 miles off the coast of Japan . The entire rescue was filmed in color film but then sat in a guy's closet until now. This is a story from a Denver TV station of one of those rescued aviators to whom the video was delivered. It also shows their transfer to another submarine that is likely headed back to port before the one that accomplished the rescue."

Can you imagine 65 yrs AFTER your rescue you get to watch it on film? And IN COLOR???
 
Amazing footage, and so great to see one of the survivors able to talk about the whole thing and share the story first hand.

There was an incident in November 1953 when HMCS Haida rescued 18 survivors from a B-29 which had crashed near Bermuda three days earlier, my father was a member of Haida's crew on that search and rescue operation, and became an "Honorary Texan" by virtue of the fact the majority of the rescued crew were from Texas.
