make sure that the era your in the airbase is in that era if you see numbers and not the airbase that base aint in that era!!!!!!!!!

Some airbases in the later eras don't exist in the earlier ones. So if you fly from an airbase in era 5 then next time go to era 1 make sure you choose a location before you fly.

The new 1.20 Update will include tens if not hundreds of new UK airbases which will only appear in Eras 3, 4 & 5 for the simple fact that they had not been built in Eras 1 & 2. A number of the bases will also alternate between RAF and USAAF control between Eras as they did in real life.

That said I have never had the sim crash to the desktop due to starting QC in a different era in which the airbase last flown from does not exist. The sim will place you at the default Fowlmere and show Austria and the code for the last airbase flown from. I have done this countless times in placing those airbases. To eliminate this as a possible cause of the problem simply highlight (no need to fly) Fowlmere (or RAF Fowlmere as it will be in 1.20) in QC prior to exiting the sim. Fowlmere did in fact come under US control for a period but has been left untouched (except that the stock MS airbase layout is replaced by one of Pat_Pattles custom wonders)

I think you must have something else going on here. A missing or bad aircraft model does have a more pronounced affect as does trying to start up a mission and not having all the models that the mission references.

I will suggest other variables in addition to the airfield not being in the era which may be causing the CTD.

If it is only one particular aircraft it could be a missing/corrupted sound file, pylons, or weapons files

Flash, not always but clicking the fly button in an era that doesn't have an airfield will indeed cause a CTD. If you haven't experienced it yet, you just haven't made the amount of mistakes I have. :)

:kilroy:Highly correct, RBP. Here, too. And an easy mistake to make, especially if you get in a hurry and don't pay attention to what you're doing.

Dasgoot2002, always look at the LOCATION bar at the left side of the QC screen. If you see an uninterrupted series of letters and numbers, DO NOT CLICK FLY! Select and airfield from the list, look at the LOCATION bar again, and if you see an actual location, then you can safely click FLY.

For the record, when selecting anything in QC other than Free Flight, such as Dogfight, make very well sure that you have your intended opponents selected, as well. That, too, will cause a CTD when you click FLY.

Good luck.:d:friday:
