On the safety during maintenance it is something all aircraft maintainers should be well aware of, most of the chemicals I worked with during my stint as a helicopter maintainer are now classified as possible/likely/known carcinogens. F-111 maintainers had it even worse, some of them showered/sweated in some very potent chemicals while working in a very confined environment often only wearing shorts & their underwear.
