Real Engine 1.1

If anyone is looking to find specific info, the possible sources are too extensive to list but some web searching can produce very specific info such as this:
Adherence to the R-985 Specific and General Operating Instructions (Vol 1) is essential, in particular:

  • While ground testing engine, do not exceed 232 degrees Celsius cylinder head temperature. Temperatures above 200 degrees C should be confined to the minimum possible duration.
  • Prior to Take-Off, ensure that cylinder head temperature is below 200 degrees Celsius to allow for temperature rise during takeoff.
  • Do not exceed 260 degrees Celsius during Climb and reduce cylinder head temperatures to below 232 degrees for Cruise flight
  • Following flight and before shutdown, idle the engine until cylinder head temperature is less than 200 degrees Celsius
Operators and maintainers must take every precaution to avoid operating at excessive cylinder head temperature and excessive manifold pressure or incorrect (MAP) manifold absolute pressure-rpm ratios. These conditions will likely overstress the cylinders and other engine parts.

hey Gunter??
I'm not sure what the rest of the team thinks, but can we use these on the SOH P-61????

Hi warchild,
definitely. It'd be a pleasure to contribute to any SOH project.
Use, modify as needed.
Just holler if you need any help.
Gunter

Well I haven't heard anything new since this 1.2 version.
This unique parameter file is quite handy. Recently I have set some parameters for Piglet's Skyraider, and it worked like a charm :)
I have also created a copy of this parameter file that I edited to remove some of the comments and higlight the parameter fields, so that I could print it on a single sheet of paper. I use it as a template to write the parameters of the planes I want to "damage" :)
Of course I need to set the font to a very small size, but it works...

Hi Anneke,
nothing much to add. v1.2 is still the last version.

Not been working on the gauges much, and not even flown a lot with them. Too much other stuff keeping me busy, though I feel there is still quite a lot to tweak.

Cheers,
Gunter

REALLY GREAT, the cream on the pie, this REALengine1.2 ! I will use ALL the options !
Infact I only fly pistonengine planes like MAAM DC3, R4D-6, C47 and Lockheed L10E, Vega, Connie.
I search on the net for power- cruisesetting charts for above mentioned planes, but is hard to find the right preformences such as Max. Continues RPM/MP @ rich mixture settings. I will use now METO setting for this. Is that correct ? :salute:
Where can I find those preformences ?! I also noticed that infact EVERY preformence for the SAME plane in every website is different, that makes it more difficult to choose the right one.
OR maybe it makes it more easy :icon_lol:

RealEngine v1.4

Hello,

I just wanted to let those who have looked here in vain for v1.2 since a while know that I have uploaded v1.4 to the sites.

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=4&linkid=14627

Added vs v1.2:

Easier configuration:
- The aircraft-specific parameters/limitations are adjusted within FS2004/FSX in the RE status panels, and automatically saved to an aircraft-specific .ini file.
- No more editing of .xml files!

New: Realistic CHT model
- CHT depends more realistically than default FS on operating parameters like power, mixture, airspeed, cowl flaps etc.

New: Mini Status Panel with Mixture Control Panel
- Provides information about warnings/failures in a small footprint
- Mixture control panel

Added feature that allows to keep Mini Status Panel open in VC after cycling out, and returning back to VC.

+ a multitude of small modifications to the code.

There are also configuration files for a few default aircraft included.

BR
