RealEngine v1.4

Bjoern

worst developer ever
Does anyone have this running? (Daube?)

I've installed it as per the readme or manual and the mixture panel shows up okay. But as soon as I try to open the status panel, something triggers an endless loop of the status panel gauge opening and closing. This observation is based on the mouse pointer flickering between hourglass and normal. In any case, it won't open.
The CHT panel should also open, but exhibits the same behaviour.

Googling or skimming the forums here hasn't yielded any usable results, so did anyone come across this and found a fix or am I the odd one out?

I've reinstalled it thrice so far and downloaded it from both Flightsim and the library here to make sure I didn't miss out on any version differences.

Version 1.1 works as intended, so this must have been introduced between v1.1 and v1.4.

My guess is that panel just opens outside of the visible screen. This can be a problem sometimes with 2D panels with widescreen or some triple monitor systems, if panel's position is set for example lower left corner. So, check the position setting and adjust it correctly for example to the middle of the screen.

Set "position=" for the "missing" windows from "0" to "4" (smack dab center). No joy.

Thanks for the reply anyway.

I've already tried it on a different airplane with the same result. So I can rule out the airplane as a factor.

- Edit:

I've rebooted for the sake of it and the CHT subpanel seems to work now.

Going to revert my edits and see if I can get the other buggar to show up.

Okay, I've fixed it. Here's how:

Before you install RealEngine 1.4 into a plane that does not have a 2D panel and no [Windowxx] entries in the panel.cfg, create a simple, black image 1024 pixel wide and 400 pixel high or whatever size you want. Save it as "panel.bmp" in 24bit format and put it into the plane's "panel" folder. Open the panel.cfg and add this at the top:

Code:
[Window Titles]
Window00=Placeholder

[Window00]
file=panel.bmp
size_mm=1024,400
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=7
visible=0
ident=0[/quote]

The install RealEngine. The subpanels will now draw correctly.

This is such a trivial solution that I could smack my head on the desk for a few hours...

Hi Bjoern, sorry, I stopped using RealEngine when the DamageMod appeared.

I see. Too bad.

But...

I've stripped out the most obvious double elements, like CHT or stuff specific to the Carenado Bonanza (pitot blockage) and I actually need to test it in flight, but so far, no crashes, bruises or bad blood between these two. Add some click sounds for all the switches into the mix and you've got yourself payware features for free. Add an icing gauge into the mix and this becomes a flying deathtrap.
