rebuilding FS9

jackryan172

SOH-CM-2025
my install finally croaked before I was able to get a clean copy off of it so I am rebuilding fresh. I have a 240 SSD that I plan on running as C:\ a 256G SSD that will hold my FS9 installation and a 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive for general storage so hardware wise I should be set. My real question is the order of the following:

FS9
FS9.1 upgrade
UT US and Canada install
EVO 2.0
Rex for FS9
Active sky
Terrain mesh (which ones are the best?)
and then local sceneries as I get time.

is that the right order of the installation or should the mesh be installed first? Any input would be helpful.

Thanks,
Sean

I think your order is OK, others can add corrections. After the update, the rest can go in the order you indicate, and if I am correct, FS will use the best mesh wherever it is in the scenery list. I use Rhumbys mesh which is great except for some parts of Southern South America, some oddities like retreating mountains and such (no biggie right?) I got it fixed but can't quite recall how just now. I'm sure you'll get all the advice needed here. Sorry for the reinstall though, luckily the pain doesn't last long at all.:biggrin-new:

I think the best way to go with mesh is freeware. Use Flightsim's advanced search and select the FS9 Scenery category, use the keyword mesh, and sort by downloads. Also search for anything with the name Justin Tyme attached to it.
