• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Reinstalling tips (Steam version)?

Killbilly

SOH-CM-2025
I've been having trouble with load times and stutters since the last Windows 11 update, and everything I've tried hasn't helped (I really wish there was a "repair installation" option to search for corrupt files). So, I'm planning an MSFS reinstall. However, I'd like to do it in a way that keeps my key bindings and control setups. I'd also like it if I didn't have to do a full re-download unless I have to.
Any tips or guides on how best to do this?

I've heard that if you back up the Official folder, you can do the initial installation of the core files, then once that's done, you can restore it before launching the app and starting the "big download - but I'm not sure how well that works. Def. keep a copy of your Community folder though.

Normally your key bindings and control setups are kept in the cloud.
