remap controls?

Hi.

I'm having some trouble remapping the controls. I wanted to use my mouse to rotate around my plane in external views, but I don't know how to go about it. To make matters worse, while I was fiddling around trying to get the controls set up to accept my mouse, I changed the assignments so that I can no longer use the POV hat on my MS Sidewinder 2 FFB stick to perform that function. I tried resetting to default, but the game refuses to reset the controls. It won't recognize the 9 hat switch positions. It just recognizes them all as POV1, no matter which direction I push.

Can anyone help me and explain how I can either use my mouse to pan around in external view or how I can get the POV hat to do it?

Thanks.

Hi bogaty
There is no mouse panning so forget that. Very recommended is a TrackIR - best thing you can buy alongside a joystick.

Tried "RESET CFS3" in workshop?

(all pilots will be wiped)

Thanks. I already have a TrackIR but it's disabled in external views. I'm just looking for a way to quickly pan around with either the mouse or the POV hat. The default keys are the numpad but as a leftie, that's hellishly inconvenient.

You wouldn't perchance have Vista, because if such is the case, than Natural Point has special drivers for Trackir, which would enable it's use with OFF :wiggle:

I do have Vista. TrackIR works fine for internal views, just not external (and I'd prefer to use something other than TrackIR for external views anyway.)

You might like the way I've set-up:

POV1 = Virtual Cockpit . . . . TRACKIR

Q = Float View

W = Fly By

What I'm hoping to do is find a way to pan the external view around, not access it. I'd prefer to do it with the mouse, not TrackIR (which doesn't work for me in external views anyway).

Pov does that perfectly. If yours doesn't then something went wrong. If reset CFS3 didn't work then check you don't have joystick software running, might interfere. If you have rudder pedals etc check the FAQ.

Check it works in CF3 standalone (i.e. not OFF) if it does work, check the settings there and try to copy the same ones...

Or finally uninstall P3 via add/remove programs and clean out registry (see FAQ) then reinstall.

I completely wiped every single control except the axis, then reassigned only those I use. I found multiple conflicts which were causing all kinds of weirdness.
