Removing the Dirt from PTO Shipping

Guys,

While watching some of the ship mission videos I saw that some of the ships in ETO still have the following land damage effects in them.

<Threshold Level="35" Effect="Library" Parameter="fx_grndexpl_s" Location=""/>
<Threshold Level="35" Effect="Library" Parameter="fx_grndexpl_m" Location=""/>

I believe all of the stock CFS3 and MAW ships still use the "grnd_explosion" in their damage effects that were brought over from stock CFS3. Next time you sink a ship in ETO,MAW or stock CFS3 watch for the huge plume of dirt and brown dust that comes up after major gun damage or a torpedo or bomb hit. We managed to modify some of the ETO ships to remove the dirt but many still remain.

We promise that when the next PTO update comes out all of the dirt will be gone.

What you will also see are delayed explosions as ammunition and fuel explodes after the initial hits similar to what we have done with the armored vehicles and tanks in ETO. All of the ships will have longer burning smoke and fire and will leave a large long lasting oil slick.

The effects are already in the most recent ETO effects file that was released so what we can do is we can send a pack of the stock ships to Jeff with all new damage effects for testing and if he likes what he sees they can then be uploaded for mission builders to use. These same ships will be the ones we place in the PTO update.

What say you Gentlemen, any interest in an early release?

Regards

This is what the dirt explosion looks like. It is the same effect stock CFS 3 uses when a bomb hits the ground.

:jump:Darn right, Please release

You betcha Steve. I would also like to work on a series of damaged ships, still burning, smoking, low in the water etc, to add to the immersion of convoys and ports which have already been attacked.

Yes, fundamental improvements like this are always welcome.

The dirt does sort of look like a Cordite explosion though...
