Removing the stock aircraft

Pat Pattle

SOH-CM-2025
There is a way of removing all of the stock aircraft from an install, does anyone remember how to do it please? :)

You can not remove b_25, b_26, bf_109g_6, ju_88, p_47d, p_47d_25 (I've setup all of them as AI and allowspawn = n in the xdp file).
Don't knwo whay they can't be removed.

For the other ones, no problem. The only thing you have to to is check all your aircraft sound.cfg, none of them have to call a sound folder of an aircraft you've removed.

I haven't removed mine physically, only changed them to AI only models and disabled spawning. At least the changes are reversable should I ever need them again.

Thanks for the replies, that works a treat! :)

I've found that with this method you can actually delete all but the 109g6, p47d, ju88 and b26 from the aircraft folder as these are the ones called up in the uisel.xml.

*But* - have also found that if you change the a/c in the uisel to non-stock and then make that file read only you can get rid of them altogether (as long as you also remove/change these in missions and campaigns).
However this causes problems when needing to delete the uisel file when something goes wrong, so by keeping a second copy of the modded file and using that to replace the uisel in-use it seems to have fooled the game so far!

Be careful with the P-47s, though. The game calls for the P-47d-25, but the sound files it needs are in the P-47d. So if you remove the razorback, make sure you give the d-25 a valid sound alias.

Ah good point Nigel!

ok, my question may sounds annoying to you modding pro but I ask nevertheless....how to make AI a stock plane?
thks a lot and my best regards to you all!

Gianluca, I only found this out the other day courtesay of Mathias, You need to open the air file - I use 'AirEd' - and chage the aircraft type from '0' to '2'. They will no longer appear in the ui list.

Cheers,

Clive :salute:
