SOH-CM-2023
I'm a bit stuck here and I'd like some help from the repainters here in SOH.
I have Paint Shop Pro 8, and I'm trying to work out how to add panel lines from a PSP file to an existing bmp repaint I am doing. Does a mask, or a new layer have to be made to overlay on top of the repaint? and how to turn the PSP file into a layer?

Your PSP primary image is a layer. The only thing is that if it is a background layer and you want it to put it on top you've to promote it to a regular layer.

You use the new .bmp with the function "paste a new layer" provided that the dimensions are the same. Try then to use one of the blending mode on the new layer. The multiply mode usually is the the one giving the best results. Not always though.

Merge and process thru dxtbmp.exe.

This is provided tha the panel lines .bmp does contain only lines and not other details you don't want as well.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, very much appreciated! I am making progress, getting there! Most of time it was trial and error. However I find that the odd panel line isn't matching up and also find that some more detailing is needed in some places, So I've to next find out how to add more detailing and correct misaligned panel lines in these templates.

Thanks Huub for the link, definitely wil be useful.

What airplane are you trying to work with? Normally, if the panel lines layer you are trying to add is for the same airplane, all that's required is to "select all" on the texture you'll add the panel lines to, then go to the PSP file (which should already be in layers), select the layer you want in the layers menu, select "copy", go back to your texture file, select "paste into selection" and it will snap the panel layer directly onto the texture file in the correct position.

falcon, i tried your advice , some of the layers aren't matching up with the texture file and look either all flipped the wrong way or weird shading after pasting it on.
its odd as the paintkit is specifically for the one I'm doing. I did it tne other way around which worked quite well, everything fell into place. There was just one or two panel lines that were misplaced by the PSP file's author that I'll have to correct some how.
