These are part of the "Hawker Heros" package, and perhaps the better of the bunch. I like the FCS Wellington, and their Tempest, Typhoon and Hurricane as well. I was dissapointed with their Fury for FS9.

Saying that, it seems like each of these are incomplete. The textures and VC are great, but I had to find replacement sounds with more gusto. Some of the gauges just don't work for me as expected - unfortunately they are part of the model so they can't be swapped out for more workable gauges.

I have the Hanvey & Barry Tempest as well, which is a little outdated compared to the FCS models. These have more repaint options than the FCS models; however, I really like the paints for the FCS versions.

Other than that, I hope that Rob's repaints will add a little more interest for me as they tend to stay in the hangar more than the flightline.

I have the Hero's package (FSX) also... best of the bunch is the Fury, Tempest is nice also. Their silver Hurricane is my favorite! Will be adding this repaint, nice work RobH!

In FS9, I guess I'm spoiled with Eckert's and GAS STearman's with all their detail. Their FS9 Fury model has a few missing external parts on my install. Perhaps its better in FSX, but not in FS9.

Re Hawker Sea Fury sounds:

I've been building an entirely new soundset over the past year for the Bristol Centaurus, for which a few kind members did some serious testing last spring.

The exterior sounds are 90% complete, leaving the interiors for which I have some excellent material.

Hopefully, the sounds will be ready for release during the course of this winter, and after completing more pressing project work - and we will finally have an accurate 'sountrack' for this gloriosly AWESOME aeroplane.

I'll admit, the sounds are being built using the still excellent and highly accurate Hanvey & Barry fs9 model.
However, we could possibly adapt them for other versions too.

FIRSTCLASS SIMULATIONS: HAWKER HEROES

Hi Rob,

I have a Tempest V on my hard-drive that came as a Spit/Tempest combo from Just Flight that I downloaded back in 2005. Thought that your re-paints of the Tempest V in the Firstclass Simulations 'Hawker Heroes' combo was the same model as mine. It is obviously not.

Do you know what date Firstclass Simulations issued the 'Hawker Heroes' combo pack? I am trying to establish if there is any connection between the two models.

The Tempest model I have was produced by Marc Siegel with sounds by the venerated Mike Hambly and gun-effects by Martin Wright. Any connection with the model you have done the excellent skins for?

Rgds
and thanks for your efforts

Mal,

I checked the aircraft cfg file and there is no date in it, and can't remember exactly when I purchased it. According to the credits in the manual, the Tempest was made by Firebug Studios Limited, sounds by Mike Hamby, no gun effects that I am aware of.

I have no idea if there is any connection between the two. To be honest, I didn't know Just Flight had a Tempest until your post. Sorry, I'm not much help.

FSC TEMPEST

Thanks for the reply Rob.

Bit the bullet and downloaded the FSC package. Would not have considered it without your re-paints! Thanks, as you say it is a great model to look at and deserves some attention.
Working on putting on all the smoke, vapour trails and exhaust smoke that I need to get a proper visual 'fix'. Also fiddling/tweaking the aircraft cfg.
Shame about the way the panel and VC have been set up.
Rgds and thanks again for your work on this beast.
