Description: This repaint is for the freeware RFND F-8E Crusader V1.1 and represents F-8H Bu.No.148652 of VF-111 Sundowners on board USS Shangri-La (CVS-38) 1970 WestPac cruise. This was Shangri-La's last active duty cruise. She was decommissioned in July 1971. This was also VF-111's last cruise in the F-8."

This Sundowner repaint is vicious and beautiful all at the same time!

Thank you simulloyd. Interesting observation. Never thought of in those terms but I can see it. I always thought the F-8 was one of the sleekest, meanest looking (shark mouth shape with or without the nose art) jets ever made, especially after being based on the same airfield with them for a couple years before that unit transitioned to F-4s. What a hoot to watch, and hear, them take off in pairs!
