My dad took me to the original Surfers Paradise Raceway and Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens when we were on leave from PNG a couple of times. Saw my first drag racing there. Probably late sixties these.
 
I don't think we ever forgave him for selling the old Surfers circuit to the Japanese!!
A real drivers circuit (Larry Perkins convinced me I could get through turn 1 flat in my F2 Elfin!!) and with a lot of history.

Yeah....we used to like sitting up on the hill area in our cars and watching the motorcycle racing on that circuit.....'70's stuff. William's sure was a true businessman, stuff the politicans just build it and they will come, and they did.
