Rise of Flight will add a Channel Map in 2012....

Certainly not an easy game - a tricky sim compared to FSX. I rarely get back to base alive!

its a game...not a simulator......I'll pass.

I haven't heard anyone make that claim before...

with the constant developments and robust engine - this simulator has a ton of potential to carry forward to WWII airial combat and beyond

I think you've passed judgement without looking into the facts my good friend. It is more of a simulator than FSX is at times and the models are crafted with meticulous attention to detail. I don't think you'll find an armrest on any of 777's birds where it should or shouldn't be. And the flight model, well, as has been pointed out, is truly challenging if you're playing on a realistic level. Honestly, I play FSX more because it's far more forgiving.

Their scenery is truly stunning as well. It's unbelievable the details yousee when flying down low, not to mention the hazards as well.

Anyway, they are offering a demo and as has been pointed out, try it...you might like it, honestly. :guinness:

Do any of you guys play this thing?

I just noticed its free to play with limited planes etc... do you guys buy more and is it worth it?

I'm not liking the whole DLC thing but apparently most games are moving towards this argh...

I have been with RoF from the beginning - as to the DLC issue...how much have you spent on FSX addons?
RoF has come a thousand miles in development since day one - in its current form it bears little resemblance to its introductory version which was reviled by many.

RoF does allow for 3rd party development...from aircraft skins to campaigns and missions, users can make a difference -the St Mihiel campaign is an outstanding example of a 3rd party users
efforts gaining 'certification' from the official development team and being implemented.

Go to the official website - you can get to it from within the link I posted - and read ALL of the news and notes since the early days and you can see for yourself the level of commitment that
Neoqb and then 777 Studios is bringing to their 'game'

Anyone who hasn't tried Rise of Flight, it's very much a simulator. (Guns and combat do not make something a game. Psst, real planes shoot each other too.) The flight dynamics in RoF are super-challenging, and I'd wager a WW I biplane in RoF flies a lot more like the real thing than one in FSX.

SkyhawkA4M, you'll be pleasantly surprised, I think. :)

Also, I've flown a Mooney 231, Cessna 310, Beech T-34A, McDonnell-Douglas F-15D, and a FlightSafety full-cockpit hydraulic 737 sim. And I hate to break this to you, but Flight Simulator X is not 100% realistic either...

I recently rediscovered it, too. Have not been into Multiplayer or campaigns yet, but have taken out the good old Albatross into dogfights quite some times as a break during learning. I think the flight model of those old machines is pretty well done, the torque effects on those light wooden planes, the way the speed and throttles settings affect control effectivity.

I think it´s really not bad, very believeable atmosphere and dynamics in my opinion!

Oh nevermind, apparently it was Google Chrome - I scanned it with MSE - no issues, time to install!

And yes I've spent a bunch on FSX.
