RN/FAA Buccaneer S.2B(UKMIL) AI Carrier Test Ops

This Bucc is a superb piece of work. I have been flying the R.A.F. version round the Mach Loop in North Wales all weekend and am blown away by the quality.
My only problem is that the plane wallows around on the take-off run like a listing ship & I can't keep it on the runway but it's possibly down to my poor piloting skills rather than the model itself.
Still, I give this one 10 out of 10.

Well done and thankyou UKMIL.

Mike, I have posted alternative gear [contact_points] entries at UKMIL.org.UK. I adjusted the Static Compression and Max/Static Compression Ratio and Vertical Position, i.o.w. made the gear springs stiffer. This solved the ground handling issue for me, please try and let us know what you think about it.

Use this to replace the gear contact point lines in your aircraft.cfg file - [contact_points] section:

point.0= 1, 18.717, 0.000, -8.500, 1550, 0, 1.5, 130, 0.60, 2.500, 1.0, 2.5, 2.8, 0, 220,280
point.1= 1, -2.500, -5.500, -8.450, 2500, 1, 2.5, 000, 0.60, 4.750, 1.0, 5.7, 5.7, 2, 220,280
point.2= 1, -2.500, 5.500, -8.450, 2500, 1, 2.5, 000, 0.60, 4.750, 1.0, 5.7, 5.7, 2, 220,280

BTW: I also recalculated the MOI values which also helped to improve ground handling/steering. Use these lines to replace the roll/pitch/yaw MOI entries the aircraft.cfg file - [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] section:

empty_weight_roll_MOI = 31911 //40000
empty_weight_pitch_MOI=112157 //200000
empty_weight_yaw_MOI =107515 //300000

cheers, Henk.

The model looks very well done indeed. Are there any indications when the RC will be out to the major sites?

Tried your changes Henk and the ground handling's perfect - many thanks for that. I'm even happier now and am off to make a donation to 'Help for Heroes' through UKMIL.

Regards

Mike
