I know this is probably a lost cause, Roland Laborie’s F-8E Crusader is an older model and probably not on the top 10 list any longer. But I like the jet and would like to get it back on the active service list for FS9. Problem is, no matter how I install it, it kills the sim. I have tried doing the standard installation, both manually and in compatibility mode for Win7. The manual installation (manually installing from a temp folder), does allow the sim to load it, and will place the model on the ramp of your favorite FBO, but exiting the flight causes FS9 to quit working. The sim will allow you to fly the model as well, but it seems a bit jerky and the image stumbles once in a while. The compatibility mode install, both manual and by the executable self installer won’t allow the flight to load at all, even tho the plane appears in the viewing window when selected from the drop down list. Hit the “Fly Now” button and FS9 stops dead in its tracks.
Just for the record, I have the "Bull Stearman" for FS9 installed, one of the most memory intensive aircraft models out there, and my gaming machine runs that plane with full scenery like a hot knife through butter.
I was just curious if any of you knew of any issues, such as a corrupted gauge, texture, or effect. I have tried both the copy of “crusader.zip” from my FS storage back-up, and a fresh download from Flightsim. I get the same results from both copies.
Flightsim is a reputable source for downloads IMO.
When I ran WinXP, Roland’s F-8E flew smooth as silk, and my XP machine was a slower PC than my Win7 machine.... MUCH SLOWER.
