Royal Navy warships?

Clarke123

Flying on Autopilot
I'm making a couple of sceneries and I desperately need modern RN warships and Royal Fleet Auxiliaries. I've got Invincible class carriers, Type 23 Frigates and HMS Ocean. What I really need is a Type 42 destroyer and RFA Argus but I'll take anything I can get my hands on. I know it's a tall order but I found these while searching http://forum.avsim.net/topic/82106-making-lanndable-surfaces-on-moving-fsx-ships/ http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1432 does anybody know what happened to these or know who they are? Guest_avrovulcan (Andy), on Avsim, is a guest and Alan McGaughey, on FSDeveloper, hasn't been on the site in months according to his profile so I can't contact them directly. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Could be worth asking this question over at CBFSIM, as there are a few ex-Royal Navy guys over there who may have a bit of insight.

I knew about FS-Shipyards but deltasim was new to me. The only warships were for FSX but thanks anyway, I picked up a nice sailing yacht while I was there :d

Good idea, I think I'll take a whack at the avsim forum while I'm at it.

Bit of a sea change in virtual Royal Navy fortunes (sorry, couldn't resist it) which might interest you Clarke? Check over at Flightsim, do a search on "Mike Hudson" or "Leander"; Mr Hudson has been launching packages at a prolific rate recently, although only for FSX - he's released Tiger-class cruisers, Leander & Amazon class frigates, and Type 42 destroyers, all covering a variety of options (for example, the Leander package includes one with the 4.5 in turret, one with Ikara and one with Exocet). They need a new paint job, but basically make nice scenery dressing - just in the wrong sim. But I'm looking to see if there is anyway to shoehorn them into FS9, and will also be firing off an email to Mr Hudson to see if I can persuade him to also release them as FS9 scenery objects. It certainly offers some more opportunities, if only we could solve the perennial problem of lack of carriers.

They may be a little too outdated and difficult to move but remember that old falklands Hermes pack that I was fiddling with a while back I think that had some 42's with it as well as some Auxiliaries too don't know if that would help at all?

Regards

I did notice them and got me hopes up then got 'em violently dashed when I noticed "for FSX" lol. It would be fantastic to get them into FS9 hope you manage to win him over. I've just finished collecting nearly every type of aircraft the FAA have operated just need more ships.

I remember it well and have succeeded in moving the support ships and escorts wherever I want. Made myself a proper little taskforce down south. :jump:

Portsmouth Highrise, and they got repackaged elsewhere. It was an Illustrious-class carrier (Ark Royal) and some Type 23 frigates.

Yes, thats where I got the Invincible class carrier, as mentioned in my first post. I swapped the 23's for a fantastically detailed one from fs-shipyards. Thanks anyway.

I've a nice little Rover class RFA converted and retextured from a scenery object, umm fs9, I found it in my 2002 scenery install yonks ago, converted and re-textured it. It's yours if'n you want it. PM me. Earl Watkins Duke class is fs2004, and there is a 2002/2004 packet of chilean navy stuff, type 21 and type22's, but they're pretty rough. And there is a static 2004 Ark Royal scenery - cannot remember who its by, but its on fs.com ect.

I've been working on the invincible class for FSX over at flying stations (under the heading "three sisters"). The models are nothing fancy (no animations), but they're good enough for my needs and I had thought about releasing them to the wider audience. Having recently rekindled my interest in fs9 (smooth frame rates, no "out of memory" errors!!!) I'd been mulling over the idea of creating some fs2004 static sceneries for the Iris Harrier.

I'm off on my holibobs for the next few weeks but when I get back i'll convert HMS invincible to an FS9 static bgl and test it, if it works i'll convert Illustrious and Ark Royal as well, and i'll PM you to see where you'd like the sceneries located. I've got an HMS Invincible '1982' mod also (with Sea dart fitting) but she's further down the pipeline.

I've been watching that thread with interest for some time, just a little disappointed that it was going to for FSX only; Gary, you are a star, if you can get these into FS9 as well it would be brilliant!! :salute:
