S-100 Schnellboote Pre release beta Uploaded.

Exquisitly beautiful work!

Thanks guys.. Much appreciated..
The textures are in Smoothies hands at the moment being baked onto the boat.. The ones that come with the boat are the dds files and pretty much nothing but the 4096 block of color textures.. They really just are there as indicators of the base texture for each region and part of the boat.. And yup, right no its super clean.. Thats because I cant use a brush to save my life, and why Smoothie and Firekitten have them right now..
The actual paint kit which i'll upload here soon, has full texture maps on the bottom layer.. I apologize I cant be more professional about them and put them on a transparent top layer like many of or developers here do, but this has been a major learning curve for me and well,, I just havent figured out how to do that yet.. bear with me here :)..
And yes, the boat was used from the balkans down into france with major bases at cherbourgh Rotterdam and two cities i haen't learned about yet, but did you folks know that the boat was used by over six nations?? That the last S-boat was retired from service in 1977?? hehe surprised me too.. Oddly enough, 1977 was also the year that the danish put the willemoes class patrol boat into service, which design wise is a hull that appears to be half PT boat ( mtb ) and half S-boat.. It's gorgeous.. But this boat, or rather its forebearers was the first of them all.. America and Britain went with Destroyers after WWI. Germany built S-boats. So, it could be said that the success of this boats basic design was the root of the entire patrol boat family tree.. :)

Just a small correction.... there is no E in Das boot... Schnell or otherwise (schnellboot, untersee boot... (U-boot), etc.) :wiggle::wiggle:

Pam,

Here some drawings of the Schnellbootbunker in IJmuiden (the dimensions are in meters):

SSB1 had room for 20 boats (10 boxes of 2 boats)

SSB2 was never finished , but was intended for 14 ships (10 single boxes) and had 4 aditional dock to perform repairs.

And here some interesting images:

These bunkers are really huge!

Yes of course.. I released it as beta because the textures werent done, nor was the 2D panel ( nor the radio in the wheelhouse.. sorry ). But its perfectly fine to wait.. I've never made 2D gauges before so ive been being a bit of a chicken about getting started on it.. it'll require new graphics, switches, everything and then i have to learn how to program it which scares hell outta me. So bear with me, its coming. i just gotta work up the courage first..

Bigger than i possibly could have imagined.. Any scenery designers out there looking for a nice little project for Cherbourgh and Ijmuiden and Rotterdam??
I was scrolling through http://s-boot.net/sboote-kriegsmarine-ssb.html and wa just amazed at the number of boat classes photographed.. S-38s, Armored S-38s, S-151s, and of course the S-100.. I love that site :)..

now, is this image in Ijmuiden or Cerbourgh??

I ask because the the three tiered roof on the building in the background.. Cherbourgh had or has a ferry building that looks very much the same and its confusing for me ..
