SAAB SAFARI MFI-17 -- New 2020 release

Don't know the developer. Plane looks cool but G1000s are soooo boring, and the real plane has either steam gauges or milspec glass displays, not Garmins.... The price is low, though!

I'd probably have picked it up at that price if they hadn't just crammed the Cessna screens in there.

I had the FSX-version, which had an analog cockpit. Got it for half price (think I paid around €8,- back then). I love it when devs do airplanes beyond the well-trodden paths, and the real Saab Supporter is a quirky looking plane. I have to confess I didn't fly it much in FSX. And I'm not a fan of the glass cockpit in this version, though I understand why the dev took this "shortcut". I may be tempted if there is a good sale.

I don't mind the Garmins - they're useful once you get used to them. As for the plane, the only single prop I fly is the BS C208. Everything else is just too slow for my needs. It does look well done from the screens, though.

Yes, the Danish AF recently refitted their T-17s with glass cockpits, and they do use Garmin. (Looks like a G1000 and a GTN 750?)

The newer Turkish-built models also have a glass cockpit, though it's not Garmin glass and the layout is different.

The MSK version is fictional, though of course, if you're not going to jump into a real one, it could very well be good enough!

The PFD in that Danish version isn't a G1000 - the knobs and buttons on the sides and bottom aren't there. Looks more like a G3X like what's in the stock XCub. Center is definitely a GTN unit. The display on the copilot side looks like a removable tablet of some kind.

At the end of the day, this isn't a Level-D sim. At it's core essence, it's still just a game. (Blocks incoming rotten veggies...) As long as you give me something with a plausible panel and flight characteristics, I'm usually pretty happy. Besides, with something like this that could be sold in fleet batches, it's conceivable that different buyers might spec out different cockpit layouts.

As I look at this thing, it looks more and more tempting. It has some pretty unique lines that I like. So I have two questions... Is the external registration dynamic, and is there a copilot visible from inside?
