Same Setup, Same Aircraft, No VC!

Fleet Canuck

SOH-CM-2016
We have two laptops in the house, and I have FS9 on them both. When I bought the new Toshiba, I just copied the entire FS9 from the Dell using the external hard drive backup copy. Everything was fine, and I can fly without bothering someone using one of the computers. They're both 4GB RAM, and handle FS9 and add on aircraft and scenery equally well.

I recently downloaded the POSKY 757 (house livery, winglets) and admired the VC while using the Dell. When I copied the plane to the Toshiba, there was no VC. What simple and obvious thing am I missing here? Thanks again for the help.

I'll start with the disclaimer that I don't have this particular airplane.

When you say you have "no vc" do you mean none as in empty sky, or none as in no gauges and/or textures?

Since I don't have this plane I don't know what the install looked like, but you say you "copied" it rather than installed it on the second computer. Is it possible some files got left behind? Maybe some files in the root texture folder or something?

Just a shot in the dark.

Yes, I'm looking at the runway in VC mode. No model, no textures. I have often copied planes from one computer to the other just putting the entire aircraft file onto a USB flash drive and then loading it onto the other one. Of course, if gauges, modules or effects are involved then I copy and transfer the original download and ensure all those files are in the appropriate places, if there's no auto installer. It's worked fine until this time. It's a mystery to me...

As far as I know, the only FS9 Boeing they ever did with a VC was the 777. They also did a set of ERJ's and one of the (much) older Airbus models with VC's. Is it possible that the 757 you had was a payware model?

Call Me A Quitter, But...

Hi again. I first saw POSKY 757 on the "Hot Files" listing on Flightsim.com, and it was a Dominican Airlines livery which I didn't like at all. It also had a rectangular blank spot in the middle of the VC panel.

I went to the Project Freesky site and got the House Livery file and downloaded it. Much better VC, at least on the Dell, but still not on the Toshiba. I've checked all the files, no aliasing (the a380 was a nightmare for that!) and I've checked all the minor details in the config file.

I can't figure it out. In the meantime I was tempted by the 9.99 Euro price at Captain Sim and got their 757, and it's perfect. I'd recommend it.

So, that's how I've resolved the problem. Thanks once again for all your expertise. This is a great place to hang out and learn. Someday I've got to overcome this obsession with getting more planes and learn how to fly the ones I've already got!

Posky did do a 757 with a VC; it's an older model but still quite good. Aliasing the VC isn't possible in Fs and even if you would alias the panel.cfg to another aircraft at least the basic VC (Without gauges) should show?
