Sandy Beach Shorelines

I remember somewhere before the forums went down that there was a way to make the shorelines sandy and not have the terrain abruptly end at the ocean. Copying some files to the Terrains2 folder in CFS3? Can't remember the files though.

Here's how I fixed it (several times!).

Shoreline Fix:

Explore your second CFS3 install disk

Find the CAB8.CAB file

Move all contents as is into your TERRAINS2 folder in here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 3\Terrains2

Oh it looks beautiful now! No more jagged edges. Thank you.:medals:

:kilroy:Lt. Heinz Becker, yep, there is. M$ dropped the ball again. If you do an explore of your CFS3 Disc 2, you will find a zip file named "CAB8.CAB". Copy it to your desktop from the diac, and unzip it, then look for a Terrains 2 folder. Copy the contents only of this new Terrains 2 folder into the Terrains2 (please note the difference in the two names, the one from CAB8.CAB is Terrains 2 and the one in the CFS3 main game folder is Terrains2) folder of your CFS3 install, and delete the corresponding *.zx files from the Terrains2 folder in your CFS3 install. Start your game up again, and voila, shorelines.

Good luck.:d

:wavey:Will this also apply to ETO, PTO, MAW, BOB, DPC Korea as well as CFS3?

Thanks,

If memory serves me correctlyl, ETO, PTO and MAW came with shorelines equipped. The recent BoB install does not, so the shorlines need to be installed. I don't remember if Korea does or does not have a shoreline issue.
