...which is great, except it won't light up in FS9!
Apparently, a custom language.dll file might be the cause.
I wondered if some kind soul could post a stock version here, you find it in the FS9 root folder.
Thanks...

Last year for Christmas, a member of the SOH family sent me a TrackIR system...out of the blue, no announcement, just one day there it was on my door step. Let me tell ya, it will take a little while to get used to flying with the TrackIR system on, but once you get used to it...flying without it just isn't "right". The degree to which the TrackIR system makes sim flight seem more real is beyond measure. Being able to lean to the side and look past the nose of tail draggers while rolling out, to be able to lean forward and get a closer look at gauges in the VC.

One word of caution...DO NOT use the TrackIR system for flying if you are listening to some good head banger rock music. I did that once and made myself sea sick. I was bouncing all over the place inside my VC....I had to shut off the music before I threw up.

Here ya go, I hope that fixes your problems.
Well it works fine now, so I assume that was it...
:salute:Much obliged! :salute:

Yup, the WWII planes and Doug's Firefly helped get that on the Wishlist. Best move so far is "Sit Up and Beg" to look past a taildragger's snout. (I can see it's entirely possible to make yourself airsick, thanks for the health warning, Obio.)

But the biggest wow so far has been just leaning around a good VC- you get 3D like never before.

That's why so many people now demand a good VC in a sim aircraft. Head tracking devices really bring out the best features in a well made VC.

Here's a couple of tips for you:

1. Make sure you program the 'Pause' command for TIR onto a button on your stick /yoke so that you can lock it in one position while you fiddle with small switches and dials.

2. Make sure you program the 'Centre' command too as you will find that as you look around you will slowly lose the central position until you get used to TIR. If your view is no longer centralized hit the button and it will reset. After a few days/weeks/months (depending on how much you fly and how quickly you adapt) you will need it less and less and eventually you will discover that if your view 'drifts' you can usually reset it with a quick shake of the head.

Good advice which I'll take on board thank you...
F12 is already in use in my sim so some custom mapping is called for - all those wasted buttons on the joystick will finally come into use.
As an aside, I swear I got blurry vision taxiing a plane with a particularly fierce Force Feedback setting!
Perhaps when I throw up, I will know that I have achieved the best TrackIR can give... ;)

Either that or you ate some bad tuna fish salad. :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

Once you learn to fly with TrackIR, you will never go back.

dude......you need professional help..............but i wanna hang out with you...bet it would be a riot

well i just took the plunge myself, ordered a Track IR 5 with Track Clip Pro Bundle and Vector Clip... next working day delivery, so Tomorrow (all things going well) will see the arrival of my new 'toy', thank goodness for payments in over christmas... still leaves me with a few pennies to spend on drinks at new year... don't worry i won't be PUI (Posting Under the Influence). unless that influence is TrackIR :icon_lol:

Money Well Spent

It certainly increases the immersion of the sim...
Santa also dropped off some Zinertek sky and water, which went into my "bare bones" sim.
So while waiting for your new TrackIR to come, here's some soothing music:

The Errant language.dll?

Was it the one that doesnt show up in game messages like "BRAKES, EXIT OPENING"?

As I was thinking of getting Track IR too but I like my FS-Recorder too much :icon_lol:

Where were you flying in that video? Simply beautiful scenery! Not sure it will look that good in my freeware based FS9 installs...but definitely worth checking out.

That's the one... I can't be sure, but the problem went away after I swapped in the stock file.
I'll look for a workaround - I too, like my FS Recorder too much!

Marlborough, South Island, NZ.
It's photoreal so would look good in your sim too, I'm sure!
Robin Corn has said his FS2004 sceneries will become freeware at some point, but if you can't wait, it's all available for next to nothing:

The most immersive Flight Experience

It's worth a new thread I suppose - but I went through the hangar as a result of the new TrackIR, so here it stays.
In a VC you are now looking for true 3D elements: knobs, switches and so on.
Lionheart's Dynamic has some of the most splendid 3D detail, and FSD's Cessna and Porter are still right up there.
Carenado wasn't as detailed as I had recalled, but still pretty good.
Thumbs up to the excellent Captain Sim B757 and C130 products, too.
The Realair Spit of course, and Sanderson's Hurri... Flight Replicas Bf109, and of course the WOP FW190.

But perhaps surprisingly, the most immersive flight I have made was in this one, with some slightly iffy weather:

I guess I was hoping for feedback and suggestions of what VC's to look out for.
But you know, there are so many, and the voyage of re-discovery is like having a new sim all over again.
So I'll just enjoy the trip...

And I haven't even loaded up Mr. Shupe's Beech yet!
Cutting and feathering a prop in flight just got to a new level...

I suppose thanks are in order, to all those fantastic modellers who produce this stuff.
They are amazing folk.

One of my favorite cockpits to sit in while using TrackIR is the stock Piper Cub...the best default aircraft in FS9 in my opinion. Bill Lyon's Cubs are wonderful for IR use as well...and his Quad City Challenger....not so much for the VC details, but for the look around at the scenery aspect of it.

I've had TrackIR for about three years now and couldn't do without it. Made my flying all that more realistic and enjoyable. But last year after having my sim PC rebuilt, I didn't re-install it until well today and wow, have just had a superb flight over the Plymouth area. So good that are going back again in a few minutes time. As I'm upgrading to V5 hardware, I'm donating my older model and a lot of flightsim software (including FSX!) to my local Air Training Corp Squadron as they intend over the next year to build a simulator for training purposes. Rather it went to a good home then gathering dust at my house! :)

Best wishes,

Martin

When I was a little lad, the Cessna 150 shown on the previous page, used to be based at my local field (Bodmin) and in this very machine (G-BACO), I had my first taste of aerobatics in 1983. Small world Aviation!!

Obio,

I'm with you on that one, whilst all the payware I have is mostly great, I still tend to gravitate back to the default Cub regularly. Add in the 'Kitten' repaints and some nice scenery (my fav for the Cubs is the Georender sceneries (those mountains all around can sting you bad in the Cub!!)

Bar a decent stick, TrackIR is the best hardware add on IMHO. I'm not talking big buck sticks, as long as you have throttle/twist rudder kinda stick, you should consider TrackIR BEFORE you spend the same on a HOTAS system. TrackIR adds more to the immersion than any stick could, plus you still need to add about the same again for the pedals.

The mind boggles...

I've held out this long because I found the headgear thing a little geeky (bit rich, coming from a flightsimmer, eh?)
I still don't like the paraphernalia, a pity the face recognition software hasn't progressed faster.
But the sim experience really is enhanced, I find myself going back and looking at flights from a new viewpoint, so to speak.
