• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Saving a .CFG in win8.1

i had thought i had this new pc setup for "administrator" always on..not sure thats the right way to say it,BUT i went to manually add a paint to a plane and it wouldnt allow me to save the modified .cfg at all..wanted an administrator permission.

im getting to be pretty good at figruing out 8.1...not so much at spelling..but this is haunting me..

could someone help me out here?...how to i set it to be full time administrator?..and if the full time setting still doesnt allow me save the .cfg,what to do?..

Dave....yep, find yourself a hand-holder .... particularly if/when you feel an urge to mess with the registry.

It's far better to have someone physically 'do it for you' who can look at the instructions and actually knows what they're saying...;)

i understand how to do those mods..but i havent a clue which to do to allow me to save a .cfg file......

If you're administrator, you can do as you please on your PC. So take any of the suggested measures to enable the administrator account, then log out of your regular account, log in as administrator and install the living crap out of any repaints you can find! Once your done, go back to your regular account and go flying.
Try option 1. If that doesn't work, try option 2, etc... until you're either out of options or succeed.

(Note: Give the registry-based options lower priority. My order would be 1-3-4-2.)

Ok thanks Bjoern,ill just go along and take my time,,and thanks for the 1-3-4-2 thing..thats what i needed...and my cat?...we already sit and hold hand to paw often...its kinda funny its like she just needs to know im sittin here..
 
Dave,

If you copy the config you want to edit to your desktop, modify and save it there and then copy it back to the original location, that will work too!

BTW, the inhibiting factors of win 8.x are also extra security for the people!
