SB2C Helldiver

Didn't somebody do an outstanding SB2C for FS2004 ? If so does anyone know if there is one and where I might find "The Beast" ?

Looking in simviation library, you should be able to find a Helldiver model here at SOH..
if it didn't get lost...

I got that somewhere, some good paints for it too. As I recall, it was originally a CFS2 model adapted for FS2004, but it is dang pretty. I haven;t reinstalled it since a lightning strike took out my MB last July. I have too many planes.

Edit: Okay, I'll have to find it on one of my CDs, it is no longer here at SOH. Wolfang 'Wolfi' Faber did the adaption, I found three repaints at FlightSim. Manuele Villa may know how to get in touch with wolfi and see if he can upload it again to SOH.

I just checked and all of Wolfi's uploads seem to be working. The CFS2 and FS2004 versions of the SBC2-4 and -5 Helldivers are there, as well as his P-26 Peashooter, JU87A Stuka and Nell bomber.

Just go to the Warbirds Archive, do a seach using the author drop down list, select Wolfi. That will bring up his stuff. All of his planes are nice.

is the old 1% Helldiver?

No!

Well, maybe the picture you posted is, but the model being discussed is not. The old 1% model was fine for its day, but Wolfie's model is something special! It was made with the assistance of "Helldiver," an SB2C vet, and the authenticity is fantastic.

Hi,

At first glance it's a nice plane ( texture etc .. )
Seem's to me this nice model deserve some modding to the airfile or aircraft.cfg.
My two main concerns are the power (this plane seem's underpowered and can't go to max speed "294 mph 473 km/h" in straight flight) and also the difficulty to land correctly even when making a "greassy landing" (jump like mad)
Need also some increase of braking power
I will also search better sounds (the most easy task :) )

I whole heartedly agree with every word. I thought it was definitely missing it..errr something. I kept looking for the turbo boost switch :icon_lol:

Hi,

Turbo switch (or WEP) :)

For me it's work and give a speed near the max by specifications
Aircraft.cfg
[Piston_Engine]
Power_Scalar=1.000000
Cylinder_Displacement=290.9285//185.9285

Thanks Duckie, I looked all over and coufd d not find it.

:salute: You are welcome, sir.

Took me a minute or two to find it myself. I keep forgetting about the "Archives". Now that I'm sorta gettin the hang of it I see it's gettin ready to change (update?) again! Whew! Sometimes "old" aint so bad, is it?

Thanks Claudius, I never bother looking at the .cfg. After I did I noticed the note Wolfi left.

Yep, maximum speed is closer (if that's all that counts) as so it should be with a 4060 c.i.d engine (about a 50% increase in displacement!). It also seems to be a lot harder to slow down to approach speeds of 70-80 kts or so with all that extra residual thrust.

Love Wolfi's Helldiver - here is a better prop texture for it ...

Manuele Villa did several Italian and Greek repaints for it - available at Flightsim ...

Mike :salute:
