scenery cfg error

Hi guys,

This error came up after installing FTX demo, can anyone help ?

Error dispay when loading game or accessing scenery library is:

"scenery.cfg error. Invalid remote scenery path in scenery area 153. Click OK to continue"

My scenery cfg file only goes upto 127.

Game works OK, but how do I cure this ?

Any help appreciated,

Thanks

Neil

How did you fix it, Neil? I had a major problem with mine ages ago now where it had the same entry (for a non-existent scenery) about ten times. When I went through and deleted them all by hand, then renumbered the remaining sceneries, it started working again.

I'd be interested to know if there was a scenery.cfg scan and fix program, the same as the one I used to fix errors and re-order scenery back in FS9.

I did a search of my computer for "scenery.cfg" and found various ones that get backed up when programs are installed. The latest one I could find had been messed up - layers did not correspond to the correct areas, so I edited the correct layer numbers in by hand. For some reason, this had been over written by one that removed alot of entries which I suspect was something to do with uninstalling and reinstalling FTX over a period of time.

Anyway, with the edited version, I simply saved it to desktop and copied it into the FSX folder and folder where the FSX.cfg is stored and it worked nicely. Backing up the previous one of course !

Hope that helps, no fancy program I'm afraid.

Bah humbug. :d

Thanks... All those backed up scenery.cfg files have to come in useful at some point. I've got about eight from various things as well.

What does the scenery cfg file actually do ?

Although it was coming up with the error, everything appeared to be there, even the stuff that wasn't listed in the previous cfg file that the game was using !
